Guinness World Record[edit]

wasn't a Guinness Record for drinking the fastest pint achieved here? -Taco325i 15:20, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not as far as I know, there was apparently recond set for the fastest yard of ale - about 1.7 litres - by Bob Hawke, who was to become Prime Minister of Australia, who downed it in 11 secs. Don't think this is the current record though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.105.181.49 (talk) 08:59, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

Myths[edit]

It appears that there are a great many myths about the establishment, many of which seem to have been started by the Turf itself. As an example, the story about the tavern being where Bill Clinton "smoked but did not inhale" originated with the tavern itself, due to their plaque: "IT IS ALLEGED THAT IT WAS HERE AT THE TURF TAVERN THAT BILL CLINTON WHILE AT UNIVERSITY HERE IN OXFORD, DURING THE DIXTIES "DID NOT INHALE" WHILST SMOKING AN ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE."[1]

Myths that can be attributed to published monographs or reputable newspaper articles should be included, provided there is clearly stated that the claim is unsubstantiated. "Local myths" should similarly not be included unless they are reported by reputable sources.
