"Tripe"[edit]

It says in the article that tUnE-yArDs is sometimes referred to as "TRIPE." I'm pretty sure that one's spamming... couldn't find any reference to it anywhere else. I'm taking it down. Turbokoala (talk) 15:05, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TUnE-yArDsTune-Yards – Per Wikipedia's clear and obvious guidelines, the article should be called Tune-Yards. See WP:COMMONTITLE and WP:MOSCAPS. Soetermans. T / C 20:42, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot WP:MOSTM: When deciding how to format a trademark, editors should choose among styles already in use (not invent new ones) and choose the style that most closely resembles standard English, regardless of the preference of the trademark owner. --Soetermans. Pronouns[edit]

Please fix Sometimes Tune-Yards is referred to as a pseudonym of Garbil, and sometimes, it's used as the name of a band made up of her and Brenner. Someone needs to sort out the two and recategorize accordingly. —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:47, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The project is called "tUnE-yArDs", not "Tune-Yards"[edit]

Let me be more clear here. The official name of this project (not just a "stylization" on an album cover here and there) is "tUnE-yArDs", and not "Tune-Yards". Here are some official sources:
The title of the project's official web page
The official Youtube channel
A page for her most recent album on the site of her label, 4AD
A BBC artist page for the project.
The Pitchfork artist page for the project.
The titles of various pages on the NPR site featuring the artist.
The All Music Guide page for the artist.

The section of the MOS on Article Titles states the following: "Capitalize the title's initial letter (except in rare cases, such as eBay)". Why should eBay be allowed to do this while an artist applying uppercase and lowercase entirely consistently is not?
Artist example: k.d. lang
I will be requesting a move on this page. I disagree whole-heartedly with the view that any deviation from general style, however consistent and official, is mere "stylization"; and I note that such consistent, official deviations are recognized in some (sufficiently famous?) cases, including within the MOS itself. The reasons for the previous move have been outlined above. While I appreciate that you have strong views on this, maybe try and reach WP:CONSENSUS. Otherwise it will simple evolve into a constant reverting back and forth between the two. Also, maybe consider the discussion around the name Korn. Karst (talk) 13:40, 27 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Human fella:, agree with you, the common stylization is "tUnE yArDs". Catharsis of Mind (talk) 07:34, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I oppose any move of the article, or any further emphasis on the style preference of the group. There's nothing like the widespread fame of eBay in the little-known stylization of "tUnE-yArDs", so there's no point in arguing for equal treatment of the two. Even k.d. lang is much more famous, having won Grammy and Juno awards. We should have a single mention of the preferred stylization, with no further emphasis, as is described at the trademarks guideline linked above. Binksternet (talk) 18:59, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
