Monthly[edit]

Performance Discounts[edit]

It is a few years since I worked in a ticket office, but as I recall, performance discounts are based not on the company which issued the ticket, but rather that company which was listed as the main charge for the particular route. For example, a season ticket for journeys from Welwyn Garden City to the city would be recorded as a First Capital Connect route, and so it would be that company which would be used to judge performance discounts, rather than the issuing company (which after all, could be any - a ticket issued at Gatwick for that route would be issued by Gatwick Express, whose performance thereafter would be academic). I presume this hasn't change, but perhaps somebody more up-to-date with such things could confirm? Tafkam (talk) 16:42, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Out-boundary[edit]

Combining Travelcards & Season Tickets[edit]

I'm not certain that the referencing for this section is sufficient, as I'm looking into this myself and I can find no such exception for Travelcards in the NRCOC. In my experience people seem to be using it legitimately (ticket offices + inspectors seem to allow it), but I can find no basis for this in the document. It says that you can combine a season and a non-season (with seasons sold by PTEs and local authorities not counting as seasons for this purpose), but as travelcards ARE season tickets, and TfL aren't a PTE, this disallows combining them. The other exceptions are for stations at which the train stops, and both tickets being zonal (which a NR season isn't unless it has a travelcard component to it), neither of whcih covers the situtation of a P2P season to a zone 6 station + a zone 1-6 Travelcard.

There has to be something I'm getting wrong in there, and a citation from the NRCOC would be appreciated for both me and the article, but that's how it reads to me.

The section you're referring to is meant to be about the exception for combining a season Travelcard with a non-season P2P. It's not meant to imply that combining two seasons is allowed, which it isn't. I've amended the wording slightly. --Mr Thant (talk) 21:08, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict[edit]

This image is taken between 1987 (DLR) and 1991 (Zone 6). The zones are numbered 1-5 which backs up what the Competition Commission source says: Zones 1-5 were set up in 1983. So why does this image have 123ABC on it? MRSC (talk) 16:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Watford Junction[edit]

Even though it's going to make for some awkward phrasing, I think Watford Junction needs to be included somehow. The current "three London Overground stations in Hertfordshire, included in local ancillary zones 7 and 8" strongly implies (to me, anyway) that these are the only L.O. stations in Herts which accept Travelcards (and the confusing "Watford Junction is outside the zonal area" note on tube maps implies this as well.) However, as anyone who's used the station since the transfer to L.O. knows, travelcards definitely are valid to WJ, and it's just treated as being a "single station fare zone" by TfL - TfL will happily sell you a travelcard covering Watford Junction. – iridescent 13:50, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peak versions of the travelcard[edit]

"In January 2002 a peak version of the One Day Travelcard was introduced on weekdays, which allows travel between 04.30 and 09.30"

Peak versions were available pre-2002 and I used them every working day. Cost about 40/50% more than the off peak travelcard. Possibly the name changed in 2002? The link in question is dead so it's not possible to check. Valenciano (talk) 23:16, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
