Suggested revisions[edit]

This article seems to be more information of interest to (potential) tourists in Ireland and less information about tourism in Ireland. This is a problem common to many wikipedia articles about tourism. I'd want to see more information about where tourists come from, governmental and private bodies involved in promoting tourism, the impact of tourism on the Irish economy, the history of tourism in Ireland, and some (but potentially less) information about top tourist attractions. Right now it seems like just a positively-slanted summary of articles about Irish culture and geography. See the intro of Tourism in Colombia, parts of Tourism in the United States, and most of Tourism in Cuba for what I think would be more appropriate. Suggestion[edit]

Typing into the search box brings you to this page, which is solely about Tourism in the Republic of Ireland, and not the whole of the Island of Ireland. Typing in Tourism in Northern Ireland takes you to the List of tourist attractions in Ireland page. The Tourism in the United Kingdom page is mostly just another list page. I think this article could do with being renamed Tourism in Ireland - making clear this is about the whole Island - reasons being that there is currently scant info on tourism in NI and many, if not most, tourism boards, cultural organisations and companies linked with tourism work on an all-Ireland basis. I hope this makes sense.--Shannon Dal (talk) 12:54, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Since Tourism Ireland was founded in 1998, the island of Ireland is marketed as a whole as one tourist entity, with Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland working together. It would make sense for the article to deal with Ireland as a whole, rather than just the Republic of Ireland.Gatepainter (talk) 09:22, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
