Butthole Surfers/Touch and Go dispute[edit]

I deleted this paragraph from the article:

"This case is obviously a setback to independent labels, wishing to operate on handshake deals. Others see the case as a clarification of copyright law that benefits an artist's ability to control their work, and forces artists and labels to come to written agreements."

In addition to the NPOV aspect of the paragraph ("This case is obviously a setback..."; emphasis added) the analysis of the result of the decision of the Court of Appeals is also wrong. The decision did not force artists and labels to come to written agreements, but rather makes them have an agreement in the first place. Touch and Go and the Butthole Surfers never had any agreement on that aspect of their contract (even a "handshake deal" or oral agreement is a contract) so Touch and Go didn't really have an argument on that issue. So because of these errors, I just erased the whole thing, since it does not add to the content of the article, leaving just the fact that they had a dispute and went to court over it.

Founders[edit]

I added Dave Stimson's name to the list of founders since the label was founded out of Touch and Go fanzine, which Tesco and Stimson ran together. The Civilized Worm (talk) 21:45, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
