Regarding his name[edit]

His name is Toshio Masuda, as proven on this site— which i assume is the official website of the place he works for (the description matches him, at least)—and supported by the ja article. According to the ja wiki, there's another guy (a vocalist) whose name is also written as 増田俊郎, only pronounced as Toshirō Masuda. Perhaps this may have been the source of confusion?

Toshio, not Toshiro[edit]

Bear in mind that kanji has many readings, especially when it comes to names. 俊郎 can be read as either "Toshio" or "Toshiro", and without furigana, anyone could mistake his name. But in this case, his name is TOSHIO, people. Evidence:

It is hard to find his name in romaji on original Japan CD releases, but I finally found one that did: Mushishi's theme song single "The Sore Feet Song" (released 2005.10.21, MJCD-23010) includes an instrumental track by Masuda -- his name is clearly printed as "Toshio Masuda". The booklet also includes a profile description that matches this particular Masuda.
(If anyone knows more do tell)

Several anime soundtracks by Masuda that have been released domestically in NA, for example: Mahoromatic[1][2], Ai yori Aoshi[3][4], Juubei-chan[5].
All credit the music to Toshio Masuda... well, all except for the 1st Mahoromatic OST, that has "Toshiro Masuda" written in its description -- but if you scroll down to the staff credits "Toshio Masuda" is listed. It could be a typo, or they might have gotten his name wrong the first time; all other later releases list his name as Toshio.

Okay, not sure if this counts, but if you go through the edit history for the Japanese version of this article, notice that no one has ever modified the reading of his name. It has always been としお (Toshio). I trust the Japanese know their people better than us gaijin.

Like I posted before, there exists a Toshiro Masuda who is a singer and radio personality and his name is also written as 増田俊郎 but he is NOT the same person as the soundtrack composer this article is about. Do not mix them up. --Raica 16:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
