Additions to history[edit]

For anyone who is paying attention to this article, I want to give a heads up I will be changing the history somewhat, probably not right away because I would like create an opportunity to discuss it off line.

The problem is that the article makes it sound as if Tomahawk was established immediately after the Ojibwe went to the reservations, and that was not true. There was a big gap in time, and for a long period loggers were active in the immediate vicinity of Tomahawk prior to the founding of the TL&B company.

I know where the current text comes from: the 1924 History of Lincoln County. That book has a couple of things wrong. Of course I will cite my references when I make the changes.

Removed lake references[edit]

Neither of the lakes added by User:Jared.thompsonkml are in the city limits, so took them out altogether. These could be re-added in another article about Tomahawk regionally, but this article is about the City of Tomahawk. Also Lake James is not the GNIS name. The name is Clark Lake. The GNIS cites reasons why Lake James was turned down when a section of local people were evidently promoting this name. LaurentianShield (talk) 03:54, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

References to popular culture is widely practiced[edit]

I reverted the anonymous edit citing "indiscriminate". Actually the policy is very clear that there is not always consensus of what is "encyclopedic" but the policy then lists examples. None of the examples apply here. Furthermore, including references in popular culture is widespread and people find it useful. LaurentianShield (talk) 16:29, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Different editors would reinsert Pickles the Drummer in the Tomahwak, Wisconsin article in the notable people section. I had move the Pickles the Drummer article to the popular culture section. Many thanks for restoring the popular culture section. Otherwise, different editors would reinsert Pickles the Drummer in the article.-RFD (talk) 17:48, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I had to revert an edit that removed the popular culture section involving Pickles the Drummer from the article; otherwise you will have editors restoring this to the article without a citation. I agree with User:LaurentShield that references to popular culture id widespread and the readers find this useful. Thank you-RFD (talk) 11:02, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My edit was reversed with the anon editor saying there is no discussion and that it is trivia, etc. In reversing the anon editor's edit I asked that any comments would be appreciated. I will not reverted the anon editor's edit and get into an edit war. I had hope the anon editor would respond on this talk page. Thank you-RFD (talk) 18:25, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
