Untitled[edit]

I haven't actually seen a copy of any of his books, so I'll take your word that it was a lower case 'i' he used. In one of the sources I'm using though, the most comprehensive bio of this guy I've seen, by Hamar Foster, states that his "nom de plume was Tom MacInnes." Mind you, he's one of the most inconsistent people I've ever heard, so everyone may be right.Bobanny 19:16, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm embarrassed to say I cannot remember the source claiming McInnes changed his name to Macinnes (as opposed to MacInnes). In trying to place the piece I've come across at least a dozen very reliable sources claiming he either changed his name to MacInnes or used the spelling as a nom de plume. Unless someone has information to the contrary, I recommend changing the article's title.Victoriagirl 00:04, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. He also went by T.R.E. instead of Tom in addition to the Mc/Mac variation at various times, and it is quite likely that he used Macinnes. According to Foster, he projected a very different persona in the literary world than in the political world, and it's the political that I'm familiar with. He's come up a fair bit in the research I've been doing, and by all contemporary accounts, he was known locally as Tom MacInnes. Cheers, Bobanny 16:25, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Good work (and good catch!). I'm looking forward to seeing more on MacInnes. Victoriagirl 16:28, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV?[edit]

I don't think this article reflects a neutral POV. MacInnes is supposed to be notable as a poet, yet his poetry isn't discussed. The only writing of his mentioned at all is Indian Title, and that only so the author can tell us that some B.C. Indians were treated unfairly. Similarly, the account of his life in China reduced down to a claim, made without evidence, that he seemed to acquire a negative "view of Asians" from it. I've done what I can; I tried to keep all the previous author's statements, and looked for online cites. I also added in a contractory cite from jrank. I think this is as balanced as can be, but I'm leaving the tag up, as I hope it'll attract someone who'd like to write in the article. George Dance (talk) 20:30, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
