Untitled[edit]

the coin should be rolled over at the server in an exchange for a fresh coin Rolled over? Whatever does that mean?

Perhaps the coin goes into the slot and then a different coin with the same value comes out immediately.--Felix folio secundus 20:41, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Merge from Token coin[edit]

Token coin is just a form of token money. Given the quality, size and overlap in the articles these topics would be better handled in one article. Jonpatterns (talk) 14:19, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that token money is more of an economics-related article, and token coin is more of a numismatics-related article. StAnselm (talk) 18:39, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure there is a meaningful distinction. While numismatics is often thought of as the study of physical money, its article claims it is also the broader study of money and its development and methods to resolve debt (which includes digital money). This is economics. Jonpatterns (talk) 19:32, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've withdrawn the merge, using hatnote instead making clear the delineation of the articles. Jonpatterns (talk) 12:27, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

US one-cent piece is not a token[edit]

“Token money costs less to produce than its face value.” I checked the the accuracy of the citation, and the definition is as such in the Routledge Dictionary of Economics. Nevertheless, it may be imprecise as the consequence is a bit absurd. Cacophonous-Earth (talk) 15:42, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
