MMA statsbox

When was the career table of mixed martial artists changed? I have unified as same as boxers' before someone changed it. Have you already dicussed about the change of career table? If you have, could you tell me. Yappakoredesho August 252005(UTC)

I had unified the career table of each mixed martial artists and kickboxers before because I belieaved that MMA is different from Professional wrestling. Are you guys going to change all career tables of every mixed martial artists and kickboxers?Yappakoredesho August 252005(UTC)

The box is not the same as the pro wrestling box, just the design and colors are, which we worked out over a while. See Template:MMAstatsbox. It definitely looks a lot better than the ugly green one, and uses a proper template, whereas the other pages are just copypasted. I tried but could not find a mma project where to discuss this. This was originally created for Matt Hughes (fighter).

Are you sure that this Template:MMAstatsbox looks better than last one? At least, I agree with that green colour is ugly colour for statsbox.

The reason why I do not think your statsbox is suitable for MMA fighters is its looking is similar to pro wrestling one. As I told you, I belieave that Mixed martial arts is a sport (not entertainment like professional wrestling) so I made MMAstatsbox similar to boxing one. Any way, I will start MMA project A.S.A.P. And let's talk about MMAstatsbox there. Yappakoredesho August 252005(UTC)

I just created Wiki project of MMA fighters.Yappakoredesho August 252005(UTC)

Mexican-American?

I don't know anything about Tito Ortiz except this article but I don't understand why the term "Mexican-American" is used in the first sentence. Especially when the article states: "Fighting out of Huntington Beach, California; Town of birth Huntington Beach, California." I think that info about his heritage would fit better in a personal-bio section (i.e. his childhood etc.) with something like "...was born to Mexican-American parents" (which I'm assuming).

I know nationality issues like this are often contentious but to me, a Mexican-American would imply he was born in Mexico, is a Mexican citizen (maybe he is?), or lived in Mexico for an extended period to identify with Mexico.

Just my opinion and I only bring it up for clarity's sake.

Being mexican-american myself, i believe that it is purely out of the pride of being a mexican born in america, not necessarily being born in mexico, or spending signifigant time there. Also, being born in California must have instilled the pride in him. I am as much a mexican as i am an american. with no clear line between the two. --jessie h. 5-6-06

Mexican and what kind of American? American is a nationality, not an ethnicity. He says he is half white, does anyone know anything about that side of his family?SubXerox 04:56, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Wife?

Does anyone know the name of Tito's wife? Just wondering. Thanks. User:MgTurtle May 2,2006.

Wife's name

His former wifes name is Kristin (wicked hot btw). They are divorced now..

When did they divorce? Any kids? This all needs to be added to his bio. --Navstar 05:00, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Now with Jenna Jameson which is begging for aids!

They divorced in 2005. They have one 5 year old boy named Jacob Jr

Bio / Bleached Head

This entry seriously needs some more biographical information. I learned more about Tito's personal life from IMDB than from here! [1] --Navstar 05:07, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Also, this entry makes no mention of his signature bleached buzz cut. How often does he do it? I think it would tear up his head! --Navstar 04:57, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Agreed, like most MMA fighter pages this needs plenty of work. Sadly IMDB isn't the best source of info, I'm not sure if their bios even have to be verified. Their trivia isn't, it's just user submitted. Which is why it contains such gems as "His fight with Frank Shamrock is considered by many as the best match in the history of ultimate fighting.". If you find any other good sources of verifiable info, feel free to either edit the article or link to them here for others to use. --- Trench 13:50, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Career section needs rewrite

The career section does seem to go on forever. It needs to be streamlined. Is every paragraph significant? --Navstar 05:02, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll have a go at thinning it out a little. --- Trench 13:52, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

The definition of TKO is a stoppage by the referree. It is redundant to say that Tito defeated Shamrock by TKO due to a controversial stoppage by the referree. If the point of the additional clause is to report on the controversial nature of the stoppage... please cite a reference.

Actually, you can have a TKO by doctor stoppage as well. VegaDark 00:21, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

There is a third TKO, only relevant to the Nevada State Athletic Commission(though I'm farily certain that NJ and NY have it too). They reserve the right to stop the fight if they feel one of the fighters is in danger. So really, it could have been a TKO by ref stoppage, TKO by doctor stopppage, TKO by judge/commision stoppage. There is nothing redundant in the statement, it points there was a TKO, and then it points out that the early referee stoppage was controversial. Also something should be added about why he is nicknamed the "Huntington Beach Bad Boy", which is akin to saying the The Castro, San Francisco Tough Man. I mean that's not exactly a flattering name. To be a "Bad Boy" in Huntington Beach, what do you do? Call in sick from work and actually go surfing? So I ask, can someone add where his nickname came from?

Videogame appearances

Has Ortiz appeared in every UFC game since the first Dreamcast title? There's no mention of his merchandising in the entry. --Navstar 05:05, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Custom Tshirts

His Mezger shirt read "Gay Mezger is my bitch" [2] SkaTroma 19:06, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Quick edit to the most recent entry, the shirt worn for the 10/10 Shamrock fight read "Punishing", not "Punishment" as originally stated.

who removed the custom t shirts???? and who put that jenna jameson crap on there? -vinoo

Quotes

Did he really buy Ken a chocolate milk?

MMA Record and Other Links

If one makes a link to something like Lightweight, you need to also include (MMA) after it like: [[Lightweight (MMA)]]. Or better yet (to keep things cleaner) include the (MMA) in the link for the site such as: [[Lightweight_(MMA)|Lightweight]]. If you don't include the (MMA) part, it will go to an article that pertains to boxing. Once you include the (MMA) part, it goes to the correct weight explination for MMA. I will be cleaning this up as best I can... others can fix anything I missed.

Style

Tito is not a SUBMISSION wrestler. There is no such thing as submission wrestling, and has only submitted someone once. He is mixed of wrestling, BJJ (ground and pound is BJJ) and Muay Thai (all of his stand up and clinches)

Then how come Ricardo arona is a former world submission wrestling champion? And Tito trains with the current world submission wrestling champion.

Ken Shamrock T-Shirt

The Ken Shamrock T-Shirt "I just killed Kenny, you bastard" was actually worn by Tito following his UFC 40 match with Shamrock, though Tito took it off right away before hugging Shamrock. Just changed it before.
