Philosopher? Since when?[edit]

The lede to this article described Hamilton as a "Scottish philosopher and author." Neither the text nor any of the sources support his identification as a philosopher; possibly someone confused him with his brother, a "metaphysician" according to the musty public-domain source this article is mostly a copy of. I changed the lede to "soldier and author" and amended the PERSONDATA and categories accordingly. I assume he was categorized based on the former lede.

I seem to recall seeing his book Men and Manners in America digitized at some website espousing libertarian values. (I don’t have a current link, and I may have this wrong.) That's not enough to support a definition of him as a "philosopher," in my view. Anyway the definition would need explanation in the article. — ob C. alias ALAROB 22:49, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
