Several Yardbirds album articles are tagged with {{Refimprove}}:

Most of these have existed for years with the skimpiest of sources, such as an AllMusic track listing link. There don't seem to be more sources or interest in these and they probably don't meet WP:NALBUMS. I own most of the Yardbirds bios, which have little to nothing to say about them. Redirect to the Yardbirds discography or ? For my money all listed probably do struggle to meet WP:NALBUMS and, as such, should be reverted back to the band's discography. Other editors, of course, may feel differently - but I would be interested to see their logic in maintaining the status quo. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 19:02, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody has come forward to defend these, but Birdland might squeak by (reviews by AllMusic, Pop Matters, Vintage Guitar, and some material in Russo bio). I'll work on it, but the rest are looking like redirects. —Ojorojo (talk) 17:17, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm defending my articles. "The Yardbirds Story" was the First Complete Compilation of Yardbirds... and it was Put together and released by their Manager, Golminsky. And you're wrong about the Yardbirds Bios having "little to nothing to say about them." I think I have Every Yardbirds Bio that exists, and "The Yardbirds Story" mentioned by it's original name "The Train Kept a'Rollin': the Complete Georgio Golminky Productions," is mentioned many times, and is in the Yardbirds Release Listings in the Bibliography of "The Yardbirds" by Alan Clayson. albabe - The Writer/Artist Formally Known as Al Gordon 16:56, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They may be listed as albums that were released with a date and track listing, but they are not discussed in any meaningful way. The Yardbirds Story (a.k.a. The Train...) article existed for four years without any citations to Yarbirds bios; in fact the sole two citations in the whole article were for the release date and label. I raised the same concern on its talk page on 5 April 2017 when it was created:

I've researched several Yardbirds' articles, including their discography. I haven't seen any "significant coverage" on Train. Their biographers only reproduce a track listing, without any commentary (similar to your reference). This does not meet the "subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works" criterion of WP:NALBUM. There is simply not enough material from which to develop a "reasonably detailed article" – it is a classic WP:PERMASTUB.

Four years later, the Story/Train article was nearly the same. The notability guideline for albums requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject ... Notability aside, a standalone article is only appropriate when there is enough material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged into the artist's article or discography." Following the guideline, it was redirected to the group's discography with another editor's concurrence. Now that the record label on which it appeared was forced out of business for copyright violations and Gomelsky died, it's unlikely that any new information will be forthcoming.

Clapton's departure date[edit]

The article states that Clapton "abruptly left the band on 25 March 1965, the day the single [For Your Love] was released." However, according to the For Your Love article, the single was released on 5 March in the UK, and 9 April in the US. I'm unable to check Schumacher's book to see what it says, but the List of the Yardbirds members article states that Clapton left on 13 March (https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/march-13-1965-eric-clapton-quits-yardbirds). The Eric Clapton article itself states that he left "on the day that "For Your Love" went public", which is slightly less specific. Clapton's own website merely states that Clapton "left the band a few weeks" after recording the song on 2 February, and that his final gig with them was on 3 March (https://ericclapton.com/pages/timeline-1960s).

There seems to be a contradiction here, unless I've misread something. I've changed it to "he abruptly left the band in March 1965, shortly after the single was released." Anyone have more info? FatPie123 (talk) 15:18, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
