No subject[edit]

some NPOV issues here: "powerful film", "big step forward", "Takakura is spectacular".. this sounds like something out of the Sunday film section of the local newspaper.

Yes, I agree. While I admittedly have not seen this movie, the article does sound more like a review than a neutral encyclopedia article. Applejuicefool 14:30, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree[edit]

don't see the reference to "powerful film", were you thinking of another article? i believe the author is speaking of the "big step forward" in the old hollywood mentality of casting all parts, ethnic or otherwise with anglo-american actors and by casting takakura ken in the supporting role was indeed a big step forward for both hollywood and asian actors. his performance was indeed a departure from previous roles and while spectacular may be opinionated, doesn't affect the neutrality of the article overall.

The main bulk of the article is OK, but the last paragraph of the "Synopsis" is not neutral, its overwhelmingly positive. Someone, not me, needs to alter it so that its...not so overwhelming. Gohst 12:24, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite[edit]

I have rewritten the article based on input from above. Hopefully the article is now more NPOV. Obviously I agreed with the POV arguments. FrankWilliams 19:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Less NPOV, more details coming...[edit]

I've seen thsi film several times, first at USC in 1983. Also have the novelization by Shrader. I'll be adding and changing some details on the page. Please don't see them a idle vandalism, and feel free to challenge me on any change here on the talk page. David Spalding (  ) 14:52, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

, it has influenced crime genre films such as Black Rain (1989), Brother (2001), Kill Bill (2004), Into the Sun (2005), and the science fiction crime genre variation Blade Runner (1982).

IMDB link does not link to right film[edit]

The IMDB link provided in the "Notes and References" section does not link to "The Yakuza" at IMDB, it links to "The Wicker Man" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070917/ The correct link is http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073918/, but I don't know how to change it in a footnote, so could somebody please confirm this, and change it. There is a seperate link to the correct imdb page under "see also", so it might be an idea to get rid of one of the two. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bm90 (talkcontribs) 05:47, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TheYakuzaUKquadPoster.jpg[edit]

Image:TheYakuzaUKquadPoster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
