Highest grossing movies

Why put the domestic gross and not total? I would think that posting ~50% of the gross is irrelevant, but I am sure I there is a good reason I am unaware of like TWC only gets paid a % of domestic and int'l goes elsewhere... please enlighten me.

It went defunct
