What kind of boat are they using for the Magus? Kind and if you know it brand/model? Searching for boats gives me the usual leisure things. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nullsmack (talk • contribs) 18:01, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This page is for discussion on show's article, not what type of boat is used in the show. I'll leave this up if someone else wishes to answer this, otherwise it will be removed. If I see any "production notes" on What type of..., I'll add it into that section on the Main Page, but I have a feeling this show will be canceled before any other show news appears. — WylieCoyote (talk) 02:09, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I'm into boats and ships too. I was hoping that there would be a list of vessel names used in this production, somewhere. I only finished viewing my DVR recordings yesterday. The only names I got from all 8 episodes thus far are: "Magus" and "Exodus". I know what the latter means, but I've never ever heard of the word, "Magus", before and so I don't know what it means. But anyway, I've been viewing the newer series, "Great Lake Warriors", which to me looks like a watery version of "Ice Road Truckers". Knowing that both the "Magus" and the "Exodus" were used vessels when purchased by their respective crews, as determined by noting how old they appeared in the show, I don't believe that they were purpose-built scientific research vessels. Comparing their looks to what I've seen thus far on "GLW", I'd venture a guess that they are modified tugboats, and compared to what I've seen of the boats in "The Perfect Storm" movie and the premium channel series, "The Most Dangerous Catch", they might even be modified fishing boats. Their engines seem to me, to be Diesels. So they aren't "S.S." but are "M.S.", if that's what you were asking. Though the names displayed on their hulls don't indicate their power type. (By the way, don't let the "S.S." from "Gilligan's Island" mislead you, as Willy Gilligan said it meant, "Skipper's Ship" in that show's context. Otherwise, it means, "Steam Ship". "M.S." means "Motor Ship".) I hope that helps! LeoStarDragon1 (talk) 09:41, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
