Undeletion[edit]

This page wasn't considered notable enough for its own article. Many singles have articles created for them before release, when the single has been publicly announced, so what requirements does this song need for it to become notable?. Is it when the single is released? When it appears on a chart? etc.

I think this single is already quite notable and although some information is missing at present it will be added over the next few weeks. A significant amount of information for this single (such as release date, formats, track listings etc) has already been confirmed and the music video has gained some attention from some tabloid media (such as The Sun and ITN). I propose this article is undeleted. Ellm6 (talk) 17:20, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The yardstick we use is over at WP:NSONGS. Don't be distracted by the fact that other songs get articles, because Wikipedia is never perfect, we often make mistakes, and WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.
As I tried to explain at the AfD, the song is not yet released, hasn't charted, hasn't won any awards, isn't getting reported on by lots of reliable sources, and hasn't been independently released as a recording by several notable artists. That pretty clearly kills it for me, so I redirected. Of course, that's only at this moment, once it's released and charts (assuming it does), it'll get some press coverage, and then an article will probably be appropriate. The exact moment isn't precisely defined, but we (all) decide whether a work meets NSONGS or not. It might well make it yet. But right now, no. Dubious[edit]

The latest chart for UK R&B singles shows this song at number 10, but it's in the 9th position. That is, the page (currently) shows 40 songs, starting at 1 and going to 41 (not 40). There is no listing for position 9.

That means that either OCC left out the real song #9 completely (and the page automatically listed 40 songs, including #41), or "The Recluse" is really #9, and is shown wrong (as is everything below it). I don't know what we can do about this except hope that (1) OCC fixes their page pronto or (2) the song moves up next week so we at least have its real peak. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 05:49, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the new UK R&B chart is out, and "The Recluse" is shown to have dropped to 12. It also shows its previous week's position as 10, which doesn't clarify anything for us. At the moment, the old chart remains uncorrected, with "The Recluse" at 10 and nothing at 9.
However, the 2010-10-23 chart (this week's) shows "Monster" by Professor Green at position 11 now, with a previous week's position of 9. But last week's chart doesn't show Green's "Monster" at all, so apparently is was just left out. That means "The Recluse" was certainly 10 last week, and if the song never recovers, that'll be its peak for all eternity.
I'm removing the Dubious tag now, but there's still the problem of somebody seeing only the messed-up chart, and not doing the detective work described here. So I'm going to replace the singlechart template with a manual listing, and add two ref citations to last week's and this week's charts. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 19:28, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
