I was hoping to find a list of episodes and guests. If I can find the information I will return with it, create myself a login & actually contribute something! (cool) 64.81.136.55 (talk) 07:25, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recollection was that The Midnight Special would run music videos and film clips of current performers (not just vintage ones, as the article already notes) when they were unavailable (particularly English acts, for some reason)...the show was one of the few places you could see videos before MTV. If someone could confirm this, it should be mentioned. 165.91.65.143 (talk)RKH

Also, the article should probably note that the show got its title (and its theme song) from the pop song "Midnight Special." If I knew more about the song's history, I'd do it myself. I also don't know whether the show used an available version of the song for its theme or whether it commissioned a studio version. 165.91.65.143 (talk)RKH —Preceding comment was added at 22:28, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I see one missing from 1975...I KNOW The Captain & Tennille sang "Love Will Keep Us Together" that year...I'm pretty sure the clip is even on YouTube....Just an FYI —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.208.19.100 (talk) 05:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think limiting guest listing to first appearance only removes the true impact of the Midnight Special. If we do get a long list of guests list should go to a separate page. Bcc cindy (talk) 17:03, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When?[edit]

The article says the show was first proposed by Sugarman in 1973, but the show first aired in 1972. That's a neat trick! I'd like to know how he could do that. I presume it means it was proposed by Sugarman in 1971 or early 1972, but since I can't say to either, I've flagged the 1973 with the superscript 'When?' and if someone has a verified date then they should put it in. Guest Stars[edit]

I just reverted the "Guest Stars" section to the 2010 version that was the latest before the huge multi-column list was inserted. Since there is already a whole page on who appeared on the show (List of guests appearing on The Midnight Special), I think that even the sentence I pasted in is WAY too much. On most pages, when you take content off one page to create another, you simply insert a short summary in the parent page and insert the link to the new one. We have the link, but the content on this page is way too much. I'd like to just cut it down to maybe a dozen acts, but am open to suggestions. Another option is to turn this into a section that lists the Guest Hosts, which I think this is lacking, but I have no source for a list of this sort.
