I believe that the article, Hendrik Hudson Hotel (1893), is very pertinent to the history of New York City, its historic buildings, cultural life, and architectural past. First of all the edifice came from the aggregate imaginations of both English and American capitalists. Also its planned location on Riverside Drive overlooking the New Jersey Pallisades is significant. Finally it was to be designed and completed with the recently completed Waldorf-Astoria (1893) being employed as a model. The proposed interior of the hotel is described in my article as well as its nearness to water, which makes it that much more memorable for Wiki inclusion. Yachts would have served as a visionary and unique means of transporting guests from the hotel to destinations throughout the lower section of Manhattan and New York City.--Robert (talk) 18:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • None of which addresses the point made in two AFD discussions now, that this article does not tell us one single thing about the real Hendrik Hudson at 380 Riverside Drive, that was actually built, by a different group of people by the looks of it, and that was not a hotel. In addition to images in the the MCNY collection (mentioned in the second AFD discussion) there's a plate by Rouse, the architect, here. Uncle G (talk) 11:38, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite - Article Name & Size Discrepancy[edit]

Per the sources that were discovered at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hendrik Hudson Hotel (2nd nomination), I have rewritten this article to discuss the actual building on Riverside Drive called the Hendrik Hudson. I think its notability is still a bit questionable, but it is certainly an improvement over the previous version on a never-built building, and can very likely be expanded by people with more expertise on articles on architecture than me.

But, this rewrite has led me to two questions. First, what should the name be called? The current title, "Hendrik Hudson Hotel" is clearly inappropriate, as the building was never known as that. It was, however, opened under the name "Hendrick Hudson Residence Hotel". Most sources, however, simply refer to it as "the Hendrik Hudson". Which is the most appropriate name to move this article to?

Second, there seems to be some discrepancy on the actual height of the building. Sources I looked at regarding this building seem to disagree on whether this building is eight or nine stories. I went with eight in the rewrite, as that seemed to be the more common description in the sources, but does anyone know for sure? Rorshacma (talk) 18:13, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
