Season one had 834,000 viewers on average but only ranked No. 12?[edit]

I don't quite understand how the first season of GABO apparently had eight times the viewers of the later reasons, but was ranked No. 12 compared to the later season, which were ranked 1 to 3? I'm not questioning the claims per se (as they are sourced), but can someone explain that to me? Did everyone in Australia stop watching TV after the first season?
