Big book[edit]

The paperback edition of this book is 1189 pages. But the story and writing are such that it is almost impossible to put down. A truly unforgettable novel of the British Raj. The TV series is so true to the book that, while reading the book several years after seeing the video, I believed, for several hundred pages, that I had read the book before. Thomas R. Original miniseries length was six hours (360 minutes)[edit]

There seems to be confusion about the length of the original miniseries. Reports (viewable on the internet) from the era report that it was six hours in length (which would be 360 minutes). They also report that it aired in three two-hour slots on HBO, which is commercial-free. It appears therefore that the DVD version of the miniseries has edited out some footage and is shorter than the original television airing. Softlavender (talk) 01:41, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
