Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos[edit]

Moneta is also the name of a character in Dan Simmons' award-winning books that draw heavily on Keats and include Keats as a character:

  • Hyperion
  • The Fall of Hyperion
  • Endymion
  • The Rise of Endymion

Simmons' Moneta is an enigmatic figure with a major role in 'The Soldier's Tale' where she seduces Kassad in a realm outside of normal time and space. She leads both him and the mysterious creature called 'The Shrike' into a complicated relationship. Her exact relationship with the messianic Aenea remains unclear to this reader; both command The Shrike at different times, and both have complicated temporal dynamics.

Perhaps somebody will care to expand Wikipedia's notice of Simmons' tribute to Keats.
