Beachcombers on Vision TV[edit]

Vision TV has been showing the episodes since September 1st, 2009. I'm still waiting to see the series on DVD (c'mon CBC).24.68.50.33 (talk) 20:54, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CBC won't allow the first 10 seasons to be shown?[edit]

Why not; some political correct bullshit? Imagine if the BBC did that with some of their shows from the same era! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.1.156.204 (talk) 10:50, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My guess that they've lost or junked them, similar to the early Dr Who serials.--Auric talk 21:18, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Longest running series on Canadian TV[edit]

Some ideas to be considered for inclusion into this article: At 18 years, this show has most American TV series beat, as far as longest running. Is this show considered to be, what we Americans call a "soap opera?" Did this show run during the afternoon? Or at Night? In America, we've had daytime Soap operas that have ran for 40 to 50 years. But majority of television production here in America is done for nighttime television. Most nighttime shows are luck to go four or five years, and very few get a 10 to 12 year run. Not exactly a soap opera. Canadian TV shows, especially the earlier stuff doesn't always fit in categories that well. This was an evening family show. I remember it being on Sunday nights. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.30.159.102 (talk) 19:41, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not a soap opera at all. It was a sitcom that dipped into drama (a genre that wouldn't become typical of American TV for another decade). And the above commenter is correct: Sunday nights at 7. We watched it every week over Sunday dinner. Laodah 03:17, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No list of episodes?[edit]

I came here looking for a list of episodes, but found nothing. Why? List of The Beachcombers episodes wouldn't be hard to start.--Auric talk 21:20, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification, re: Longevity[edit]

The article states that The Beachcombers is "third-longest-running dramatic series ever made for English-language Canadian television"; what are the two the exceeds it?

According to the Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_television_programs_by_episode_count, the following Canadian English-language shows have had more episodes than The Beachcombers: -- 100 Huntley Street (Daily religious talk show) -- The Marylin Dennis Show (Daily talk show) -- This Hour Has 22 Minutes (Weekly sketch comedy)

Since none of these shows are "dramatic series", should the article be changed to state that it remains the longest-running English-language drama in Canadian history? Or can the original author cite a source for their assertion that it's only the third-longest? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Insley (talkcontribs) 02:30, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
