Historical Context[edit]

For those who know Japanese, the Chinese-styled Japanese names should be evident already, but the author includes various Chinese elements such as huadian, the varied styles of hanfu, the Chinese-styled court system (for one, Japan did not have eunuchs), and the architecture/decor.
