Respelling[edit]

There are many publications that refer to the city as "Tepi". I don't know of any recent ones, except Ethiopian Airlines', that use "Tippi". I am seriously contemplating a spelling change. Comments?Pete unseth (talk) 12:23, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't you & I have this conversation before? If you can find some reliable sources to rename this article to Tepi, go for it. (And it sounds as if you have those references.) Just remember to update the links to this article. I have no strong preference for the current spelling, but because there is no standardized & widely-accepted transliteration method for Ethiopian words into English, I tend to defend the existing forms. Last things anyone wants is a lame edit war over how to transliterate proper names, when the issue is over a vowel or a doubled consonant. (And yes, I've witnessed edit wars over such trivial matters -- follow the link for an entertaining & depressing collection of how intelligent people squabble over some of the most stupid things.) -- llywrch (talk) 17:45, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've respelled "Tippi" to "Tepi" within the article, but how can I change the spelling of the key word in the article title? If somebody knows how, please go ahead and do it. Pete unseth (talk) 14:30, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
