What's so odd about Minnesota?

Why the comment about Minnesota being a state and not a city? That's what the name of the real team is; I don't see why that makes it any less likely to be included in the game. --68.110.179.230 01:30, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Please research this

Given that the game came out in 1988, how did it come to be that Payton and Gault were still with Chicago while Schroeder and Dorsett became members of Los Angeles and Denver, respectively. Gault and Schroeder came to L.A. at the same time, while everyone knew the Jan.'88 home playoff loss to Washington was Payton's last game (remember his head down sitting at the bench?). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Marshall (LB) became a member of Washington and no longer with Chicago. -Amit

One thing is certain, although it's copyrighted in 1988 by the NFLPA, the copyright date on the title screen (of the NES version) says "1989", therefore, it must be assumed tha the later date applies for the NES version. Brittany Ka 23:09, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Release Dates and other stuff

According to both Moby Games and GameFAQs, the release dates for Tecmo Bowl are as follows:

US - Feb '89 Japan - November 30, 1990

Also, the original arcade version of Tecmo Bowl came out in 1987. The original arcade version of Ninja Gaiden came out in 1988. Neither of these were before the launch of the NES, which launched in Japan in 1983 and the US in 1985. So whoever wrote that "Before the NES launch, Tecmo had gained notoriety for the Ninja Gaiden series and the Tecmo Bowl arcade game." is a completely wrong and a sloppy researcher. This article is such a nightmare on so many levels, and frankly I don't care to rewrite it. Someone else can fix this mess.

I gave it my best shot. It's also more of a mess than you think. This article was clearly biased towards the NES version. The arcade game did come out first, after all. Licensed Players

At one time, I remember reading that Tecmo was one of the earliest games for a game console to use licensed players. I know that heavy sim-based computer games had full names and stats, but was this one of the first "light" sports titles to use licensed players? Ricky Proehl

It says he's in the game but he wasn't drafted until 1990 and then by the Arizona Cardinals (who aren't in the game it seems). So how could he be one of the players featured in the game that is still active? --BHC 11:07, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Screencap

I noticed the Indianapolis vs. Denver clip on the main page and noticed the player controlling the Broncos had Alphonso Carreker as the "hot man". How was this accomplished, because when the original came out (1988, I believe) Carreker was with Green Bay, which is NOT one of the teams included in the original game. Mobile phone version

The article mentions that a mobile phone version was released in 2004. Did this version include the player names, or were the players represented by numbers alone as in the Virtual Console release? It may be important to clarify this in the article. Jeff Silvers 13:20, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

What's the big idea?!

Why was my previous edit reverted? It WAS an arcade game originally. The previous version of the article was too biased towards the NES version. Now, I'm going to change it back, and I ask it be left that way. The idea is that articles need to be NPOV, and an article such as this that is clearly biased towards one version (and where one section reads like a review) is not POV. Testaverde and Andersen?

As far as I can tell, neither Vinny Testaverde nor Morten Andersen ever appeared in the original Tecmo Bowl. Arcade & NES Versions

The arcade version & NES version need to be split into separate articles. The NES game is not a port of the original arcade. I will start a new article and will share the differences here before anything is published.

That hasnt been done because it can't be justified. The article lacks sources and content so it needs to be built as it is unless a miraculously transformative amount of notable content appears to the B rating level. Thanks and good luck. — Smuckola(talk) 20:32, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Tecmo Bowl

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tecmo Bowl's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
