Sound sample?

Would it be possible to get some sound samples from this subgenre of music? Technoid music seems to be a combination of genres that are a bit vague to begin with (IDM, especially Industrial) so some samples could help people get a bit better picture of what sort of music this is. 84.249.46.248 13:49, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

note: novadays russian drum n bass producers started a style also called "technoid" or "quickstep". it contains 174-180 bpms, techno sounds and repetative drumloops similar to techstep but more brutal. main producers of this genre are RAIDEN,PROKET,MASHEEN,KANO..& more..

Porposed deletion (Sept 2023)

Hi. So this page is a mess. There's arguably two varieties of "technoid", and I don't really know how they relate.

One is related to a style that sits between soft idm (like, the more the ambient house end) and fourth-wave industrial/elektro, like Beefcake and Gridlock, and arguably relates to psybient/psydm (Ochre, etc.)

Now days, technoid is referenced on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_industrial_music_genres#Power_noise (which is confusing, because power noise is quite more louder and agressive than technoid. (power noise is/was also more often 4/4 and club focused than rhythmic noise or technoid, but it was indeed an overlapping scene).

The other is the dnb + techno end of things. I'm not as familiar with that, though I have considered myself a dnb head in the past. I would like to learn this style better, because I have listened to some described technoid dnb mixes and it was more 4/4 orientated than the more swung and jazzy "hidden funk" rhythm of the idm style technoid I'm more familiar with.

Style names come from the artists, publishing/promo company, media/reviewers, and fans. If anything has been "lost" forum wise, I'd like to dive into the Web Archive, though I think there are publishing body (both record label and journalist) references enough to back up both histories.

So I'm going to remove the deletion notice for now and follow up with some edits including citations to relate both histories.

I can't see how they're not related though. A modern artist that labels their music dnb, idm, and technoid, like https://numanity.bandcamp.com/album/eden seems to bridge the gap. Maybe I've just listened to some DJ mixes that aren't representative, or maybe there is truly arguably more than one set of clusters of stylistic properties that people use the term to describe to. --MilkMiruku (talk) 19:41, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

@MilkMiruku: I'm going to restore this to redirect for the moment to get it out of the NPP queue. If you do return this to an article, could you please at least get it to a stub where there's sufficient sourcing to clearly retain. If you can reliably source definitions for the two styles of technoid, but there's not good sourcing for how one developed from the other, and there's not a large quantity of coverage of the styles, then it may be better to cover the two at their parent styles, turn this into a WP:DAB, and two disambiguated technoid shortcuts (ref WP:NOPAGE). ^~Hydronium^~Hydroxide^~(Talk)~ 04:58, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

My first thought was "which redirect?" (a reference to the multiple redirects the article has in it's history). Checking, you've redirected it to a page that doesn't mention the word in a context other than the sidebar where it's as a derivative. The section you've redirected to doesn't actually exist. Would it not make more sense to redirect it to List of industrial music genres#Power noise where there is explicit wording giving context to the said relationship between it and powernoise producers? Given it's much more likely to be used as a dnb substyle term these days (that is very much used, afaiu), a stub disambiguation at minimum would be more sensible. "there's not a large quantity of coverage of the styles" have you done the work to confirm that since my change/post a day ago? Feels like you're shooting from the hip rather than seeking to support the improvement of people seeking to find the meaning of "technoid" when it comes to music styles on Wikipedia. But sure, as long as the page isn't deleted and the history isn't lost, I can work to improve "both" definitions and restore a full page. References to it's usage won't be hard, there will be tens at minimum from respected organs and labels/imprints. Maybe references to the relationship between "both" usages will be harder. I'll ask a few industrial journos/bloggers, producers and DJs that I know to help. The dnb folk I know atm are less tech* inclined. --MilkMiruku (talk) 21:10, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
