Added deletion tag[edit]

There's alot of Original Research.

CoercorashTalkContr. 04:44, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated article for deletion[edit]

Because

  1. Tags of lack of references and wikipedia clean up have been repeatedly deleted.
  2. It contains a lot of Original research like
...of late since end 2009,serial goes biased, for instance, the May 2010 episodes are more on Wealth overtaking Values. With bad pronunciations by the Hero's son Tapu, Tapu is being glorified all times, perhaps, he's linked to producers.
...He(Bhide) ensures that he saves every single paise whenever he can, which shows that he understands the importance of money, this habit of his is laughed by many. In one of the episodes it becomes a reason for quarrel between Daya Gada and Madhavi Bhide.
...she(sonu) is a very sweet child who is not only well mannered but cultured as well. She is an intelligent and systematic girl. She goes to school on time, attends all her classes, comes back home, plays for a little while, does her homework, prepares her bag for the next day, prays to God and goes to sleep.(too much detail, they never showed a 'busy' sonu.)
...He(sodhi) owns a transport business and also runs a Mandap Decorators service as an ancillary business to support his wife.[...]He hates 'Tapu' for breaking the glass of his window unlimited number of times.
She(Mrs. Roshan) is a sweetheart and very co-operative. She innocently commits a mistake but never realizes it which turns into a funny light moment. Both Sodhi and Roshan always have communication issues because of the language barrier.

Thereare alot more.I'll need an article List of Original researches in article of TMKUC.

  1. and how can you think that an article of 78 sections and sub-sections and approx. 35 thousand letters could have ONLY THREE references!

CoercorashTalkContr. 18:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Though i have not contributed in this article, i suggest not to delete this as it is very popular tv show and provide good information on it. I rather suggest adding more citations. find them in news archives. Nizil (talk) 23:56, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Episode List Clutter[edit]

This sitcom is over 500 episodes long. It's really not possible to keep track of all those episodes. The episodes which do have summary are barely 1/25th of the total. With no end of the show in sight, the 'List of Episodes' section should be deleted. It gives a whole storylike feel to the article, which DOES NOT give a neutral view on the show. Alvord12 (talk) 13:17, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment if the Premise needs to be rewritten[edit]

The premise section is long enough and it is like elaboration of the characters of the program. Should it be rewritten in a more compact manner. Kannan Reddy (talk) 10:40, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anon IP creating disambig links[edit]

Almost everyday certain anon IP edit the article to update number of episodes but at the same time create links to disambig pages, e.g Marathi people --> Marathi. I don't think that it is vandalism. It is just WEIRD. neo (talk) 15:30, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name confusion[edit]

Hi @Cyphoidbomb: you mentioned a source here which says Tarun Uppal but according to these sources the actor's name is Azhar Shaikh [1] [2]. Sid95Q (talk) 18:59, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Sid95Q: If the show has been on for 10 years, could multiple actors have portrayed this character? That's fairly common. I had to revert that user's edit because it conflicted with the published source, but if there were multiple people to portray the role, then yes, we should include the various actors' names. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:22, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb: there are no sources which indicates that multiple actors played that role (I watch this show but I know the rules so). There is only one source with Tarun uppal name all others are Azhar Sheikh, out of those only these two were reliable (others are either non reliable or in hindi). So what should be done in this case. Sid95Q (talk) 19:42, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unexplained removal of character descriptions[edit]

@Sagar.lakhani.1995: I can't understand why in these edits you removed character descriptions that help readers unfamiliar with the series actually understand who the characters are and how they behave. What justification do you have for doing that? Even at children's cartoon articles we get some understanding of how character interact with one another. You should probably familiarise yourself with WP:TVCAST if you intend to edit TV articles. Cyphoidbomb (talkcontribs) 18:59, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cast section needs Wikitable[edit]

I believe the cast section needs wikitable. Because several actors played the characters over the but character description is here with only one cast member. In this show cast members change frequently. Sonalika Bhide's character has been portraying by 3 actresses so far. I think only wikitable can settle this problem.Ratan375 (talk) 17:32, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikitables aren't the solution to every problem. See WP:TVCAST, where the community expresses a preference for prose or bulleted lists, not tabular format, which can also present difficulties for people with accessibility issues. Typically, new cast members would be added to the bottom of each list, regardless of if they were replacing other cast members. But if the current construction is confusing to you, then you can propose that it be changed to focus on characters, the way children's TV articles do:
  • Sonalika Aatmaram Bhide - Bhide and Madhvi's daughter, member of Tapu Sena. Played by Jheel Mehta from 2008–2013, by Nidhi Bhanushali from 2013–2019, and by Palak Sidhwani from 2019–present.
That's pretty clear and concise and doesn't take up much space. Another option might be:
  • Sonalika Aatmaram Bhide - Bhide and Madhvi's daughter, member of Tapu Sena. Portrayed by:
    • Jheel Mehta (2008–2013)
    • Nidhi Bhanushali (2013–2019)
    • Palak Sidhwani (2019–present)
But that version takes up a lot of vertical space. I'm curious what AussieLegend thinks of either. But there's no need for tables when we do actually have other options. And I dislike the trend in Indian television articles to try to turn everything into bytes of compressed data, tables and parentheticals,[3][4][5] rather than using complete sentences and full thoughts to communicate information. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:25, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The story arc's section should be moved to another page[edit]

In my opinion, the story arcs given there are quite useful, but it just lying there in between the page just increases scroll time. Adding to the conversation, User:Yuu Haru Angelo is deleting the story arcs section since it doesn't have reliable sources, but some IPs are readding it again. In my opinion, like User:Ianjustme said, the story arcs are useful, but the only sources for those according to me are the episodes found on YouTube. Any opinions or comments here, Yuu Haru Angelo? Story Arcs[edit]

This article has an exceptionally big story arcs section. What is the actual need for it? Wouldn't a short plot summary be better than to expand of episode weeks? What do you say Pri2000? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:13, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it's just fan-made. Yuu Haru Angelo (talk) 04:00, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible As a continuous viewer if the show since starting I feel it's necessary. As it doesn't have a consistent plot line any other show. For example in Maddam Sir, Anupamaa have consistent storylines with their links to previous storyline. While in this show their is no consistent storyline and every storyline doesn't has a single connection with past storyline. So summarized plot can't be made. So I feel story arcs is necessary. However I doesn't agree with Yuu Haru Angelo. This isn't fan-made storyline. Every story arcs is different that actually happened in the show. That's why I feel even SonyLIV link which is reliable and official primary link should be added in External links section to generate reliability for the same. Pri2000 (talk) 15:48, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pri2000 Hmm, but how about moving the story arcs section to a different page? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 16:59, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible I suggested it once. And I think at one time their was a page with same titled "TMKOC:Story Arcs". So it'll be best to move it to a separate page with SonyLIV app link as the main External link as it's official Digital broadcaster as well as notable and reliable primary link for the show. Pri2000 (talk) 19:41, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pri2000 If you feel it's necessary then add each and every episode name instead of adding these, each and every episode should have name instead of these.Yuu Haru Angelo (talk) 02:59, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible please ask Yuu Haru Angelo to not do edit according to their own thoughts till the time any common consensus is reached. Pri2000 (talk) 08:44, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pri2000

Add short summary instead of adding this long paragraph. You're explaining each and every episode we don't do that here on Wikipedia, even none page on Wikipedia have added something like that. Yuu Haru Angelo (talk) 09:52, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible even after no consensus reached this person is doing edits according to his point of view. I participated in several discussion that's why I know till the time no common consensus is reached no section should be removed or added. Even this isn't episodic summary. It's track summary of particular track. That's why I would suggest that a separate story arcs page should be made as soon as possible Pri2000 (talk) 10:20, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pri2000 Well, just give me some time to decide, then I will tell you, what I think regarding this matter. For the time, I am a little busy, with things. So please wait for sometime. And Yuu Haru Angelo, please don't remove anything until any consensus has been reached. Continuing to do so, will result in a edit war and you might get blocked, which I obviously don't want. So, please wait. I hope we will be able to do something regarding this 'story arcs' section. Thanks, ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:33, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You really want to make a separate page, seriously? Just for summary? As I have already said none page add Story Arcs you can check, add short summary instead. Yuu Haru Angelo (talk) 10:30, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Yuu Haru Angelo This is the longest running sitcom of India which has very different arcs and all the arc summaries were very useful. Just because other wiki pages don't have the same doesn't mean this page doesn't have to have it. 2409:4040:D87:A441:AE38:3A4F:8C9B:24E3 (talk) 14:05, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed decisions[edit]

Now considering everything, I think such a big plot section shouldn't be there. No one is going to read a summary of the episodes of a TV show with 3000+ episodes. That whole thing is just unnecessary. The whole 'story arcs' section consisted of 76000~ bytes of data. Isn't this just way too much? I don't remember finding any TV show or even a film article with such a huge plot section. Even the best films, and the top grossing ones, won't possibly have such a huge plot section. Wikipedia is called an 'encyclopedia' and its content should also be encyclopedic. Wikipedia is also not a collection of information, and that also includes a huge plot summary. Imagine someone coming to Wikipedia to find out about this show, and they see the big 'story arcs' section. Would it be possible for anyone to read such a thing. Just going on adding content to articles, always doesn't work in favour of improving the article. The 'story arcs' section must not be added back before any decision has been reached. I am hereby proposing two methods of eradicating this problem.

Short plot summary

A short, concise, and well written plot summary as per MOS:TVPLOT could be inserted in place of the 'story arcs' section. That would make the article quite encyclopedic and clean.

No plot summary

If a short plot summary cannot be framed at this moment, then it is best to go without a plot summary. When a plot summary can be made, it should be first discussed in the talk page, then it could be added to the article.

Now this is for all the major contributors of the article and the page watchers to decide, which way they think is the best way to proceed. Everyone willing, are requested to participate in this discussion and help reach a consensus. Sincerely, ItcouldbepossibleTalk 16:13, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm agreeing with Itcouldbepossible's viewpoint on this. There's no absolute need for story arcs, neither as a big section on the article nor a separate page for it. Having a plot/synopsis section is more than enough, and even if a short summary can't be created due to the various different tracks on the show, then I guess it's fine because it isn't a compulsion to include. If an editor is able to create a plot summary (and that to under the word limit), then fair enough to include the same, otherwise let there be no section for plot. ManaliJain (talk) 03:33, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • 70k+ of data here is just too much, particularly without sources. Pikavoom Talk 10:49, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm agreeing with Itcouldbepossible's viewpoint on this, but only because there is too much space, and even if you move the Story Arcs section to a different page, there will have to be sources to support that, and the only sources I could find are in YouTube, which is generally considered an unreliable source. However, replacing it with a short, concise, and well written plot summary as per MOS:TVPLOT is a bit too challenging, considering the number of episodes this show has produced, so it is better to not have a plot at all. The Premise section and the description of the characters in the Cast section might fill in those shoes. We are the Great (talk) 21:16, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible: I and @User:Ianjustme already had that conversation about moving the Story Arcs section to another page, a few months ago. When I saw User:Yuu Haru Angelo's contributions to the article (deleting the Story Arcs) section, every time IPs reverted it (readding the Story Arcs section). Do you think it is a good idea to protect this article? We are the Great (talk) 21:29, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@We are the Great yes please protect the article. And I don't agree with making a seperate page for story arcs.Yuu Haru Angelo (talk) 03:37, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@We are the Great Well, there is no need to protect the article at this moment, since I very well know who the IP is. The more they edit, the more they will be in trouble. Let them decide which way they are to go. Thanks. Itcouldbepossible Talk 03:44, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@We are the Great are y'all going to make a separate page for the story arcs? Because I have seen various shows where each episode plots are explained in detail. How is this any different from that? Because the story arc section was just a well summarised list of all the plots and it was genuinely very useful. Yes the show has more than 3000 episodes but the arc section wasn't giving summary of each and every episode. Having that section along with the episode number genuinely added a lot more to the wiki. 2409:4040:D87:A441:AE38:3A4F:8C9B:24E3 (talk) 14:13, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Tushar3011 But everyone here on talk page is disagreeing about making a seperate page for story arcs. Yuu Haru Angelo (talk) 12:55, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That is not a standard episode listing type and where it the references. I plan to copyedit this article back to what it should be. scope_creepTalk 14:52, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It probably does need it, as at 3000 episodes odd, the best idea to look to other good articles that are of very long running series and see how they are doing it. It won't get out of draft without somekind of real referencing. Those social media links it has are a real dud. I don't known how you'll do it. I'll ask around. scope_creepTalk 15:42, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That looks like something more appropriate for a Fandom wiki than here. Very short story arcs, what's needed is something with a larger span. The sourcing issue is going to be significant as well. I second the suggestion from Scope creep, and also suggest asking at the WT:Television for thoughts. Ravensfire (talk) 18:06, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, your right. I asked and had a look about. That kinds of table is not used anywhere on Wikipedia. So I reverted the insert into the article. What is used, is episode blocks with a short bio for each episode pointing to individual articles. If its a big series the main series article, is off the main article. Star Trek: Picard gives you an example of a episode block. List of The Simpsons episodes is probably closer to what is needed with the season 1 espisode block linked to each individual article. That assumes that there is references and and the episode is recognised to be notable and is written properly and is a not a social media fan rehash. Even the Simpsons which is internationally famous and has 700+ odd episodes has episodes articles that are very poor written, formatted and referenced and this seems to be recognised that work needs done. I never knew this really worked until today. But certainly this arc thing is out the window and can't come back. Its dead. scope_creepTalk 20:14, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the casting list[edit]

I've cleaned up that article a wee bit, normalised the language a bit. My grammer is not the best but I can do flow. The cast list needs to be formlised at the moment, at the moment it is mess. As its 3000+ episodes it deserves a proper table that explains these relationships formally. Also you new articles for those dude and dudettes who are names, for example Raj Anadkat who must have 100's episodes by now. They need articles. The sames in the "recurring" and "special appearences" lists. If they been on there for years and/or 100's episodes then they need new articles on them, to formalise the shape of the this article. That series really deserves a good articles. Hope that helps. scope_creepTalk 15:42, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Scope creep Thanks for clearing up the article. The cleanup job was beyond what I could have done. Do you mean to say, some of the members of the case needs articles for them? And could this article be a WP:GA? Itcouldbepossible Talk 04:00, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think so. Its not WP:MOS compliant and doesn't cover a whole lot of what you would expect in a GA quality article. There is no sufficient details on a lot of stuff you would expect to see. Perhaps in 2-3 years. Keep at it. scope_creepTalk 07:23, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Ajeeb Prani (talk) 09:52, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
