The Old Gray Mare[edit]

The second theme, a Swedish folk tune according to the note in the full score, is clearly the same as the tune used for "The Old Gray Mare". See its talk page for more speculation. David Brooks (talk) 22:41, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rhapsodi or Rapsodi?[edit]

The Swedish text was changed today from rhapsodi to rapsodi. The "h" is in the subtitle of the score, although (current) correct Swedish has no h. The score was published in Denmark; is that the Danish spelling? Just curious. David Brooks (talk) 19:30, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just after saving this I realized I should check the Swedish Wikipedia. Rapsodi it is. David Brooks (talk) 19:34, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Original work v. popular versions[edit]

There is no distinction between Alfven’s original rhapsody, with its duration of c. 12 minutes, and its rearrangement as a light pop piece of 2-1/2 to 3 minutes. For example, Percy Faith’s famous recording substantially rearranges and smooths out the work for a popular audience, hence it became a huge hit. The available recordings on iTunes are all based on this rearrangement, yet this article does not remotely suggest that the original work has been adapted and shorn considerably of its llength.
