Clique[edit]

If this article is specifically about "Superman (The Clique song)", then why is the whole article completely R.E.M.-centric, not even mentioning The Clique until the second paragraph? That R.E.M.'s version was more popular is beside the point. The tail is wagging the dog here. wikipediatrix 17:57, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Superman - R.E.M.jpg[edit]

Image:Superman - R.E.M.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

the "shut up" line.[edit]

the "shut up, we hate that song" line has been marked "citation needed" for a very long time.

shouldn't we just ethier cite it or delete by now? i have strong dis-beilf that the lead singer would just be so blunt to his own fans like that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.74.158.197 (talk) 14:03, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removing the "shut up" line yet again as I am still unable to find a reference for it. Patricia Meadows (talk) 00:44, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Overhaul on August 26, 2008[edit]

I did a major overhaul because I agreed with wikipediatrix that the opening paragraph should focus on both Clique and R.E.M. I also:

  • removed the "shut up" line because I could find no source for it
  • removed the reference to the song being made popular by Moby Grape because I could find no version ever recorded by them (if you disagree, please put it back)
  • removed the "stub" designation as I think this pretty much covers it (ugh, no pun intended) Patricia Meadows (talk) 16:11, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i'm glad the issue was finally addressed! --Homor (talk) 00:02, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lois & Clark[edit]

That television series did not exist in 1986. That is factually wrong. Please change. 99.233.134.199 (talk) 17:17, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Tempus, Anyone?" aired in 1996. Looks like a simple typo to me. I have changed it. Patricia Meadows (talk) 23:48, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grunge?[edit]

I dunno if this should really be called grunge as the article that does so is from 1986 pretty much before that was a thing. I’d adsume it’s being used here along the lines of “trash/frat rock” to denote the track’s garage origins or whatever. IMMAEDITTHISPAGE (talk) 19:23, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good point: the grunge of Mudhoney/Soundgarden/etc. was in its infancy, so the author probably did not mean "Seattle Sound"-style grunge. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 19:24, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Year shows up as 00000000[edit]

The year displayed for this song under the "R.E.M. singles chronology" header isn't displaying correctly. I went to see if I could fix it, but unfortunately I don't know how. 24.151.200.198 (talk) 07:48, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Done good eye. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 11:29, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
