Pronunciation[edit]

I added a simple pronunciation clarification (like Davidleeroth provided on this page) for those of us tempted to pronounce "ch" as German "Bach" or some other velar consonant. I know "kh" (not "ch") would be the proper Russian-English transliteration for the Russian х sound, but with internationally distributed products you can never be sure WHAT they did! It's kind of useless to use English language for pronunciation. Kh is a sound that doesn't exist in that language. X is used, but most people mispronounce it. Kh sounds like the spanish J , which is nowhere nearthe sound of X on any English word I can think of. 2800:150:107:603:9D47:DD24:C179:A4EB (talk) 22:15, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Salad?[edit]

There's also a kind of salad named 'Stolichnaya'. Where's the article for that, and shouldn't there be a link there in this article? ΔιγουρενΕμπρος! 17:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The salad's name is slightly different: it's 'stolichny' (because, gender). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivier_salad --Carolyna (talk) 08:37, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Title Change[edit]

Would it be appropriate to change the title to "Stoli" due to the recent name change? Perfecnot (talk) 02:29, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm for the title change. Not sure if this needs to be put to a vote, since it's factual, but yes, please change the title. Yekshemesh (talk) 07:01, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CRITERIA applies here. Normally when a brand or company name changes we might wait a bit until the new name becomes widely used both by the sources and by the public. In this case the new name is already widely used and I could go along with changing the article title. I'm also not sure whether this needs to go through a discussion, but it would at least need to go through Wikipedia:Requested moves since there is already a redirect at Stoli. This is more messy than one would think as there is part of the world where the Russian state owns the brand, and parts where the Baltic company owns the brand. The announced name change is only with regards to the Baltic company (and... just announced;not the public name yet). Furthermore, the Baltic company alreaday uses Stoli in the Benelux, as the brand owner there is the Russian state... For now, I'd leave the name as it is...L.tak (talk) 22:18, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pernod Ricard?[edit]

This article mentions that Pernod Ricard responded to accusations against Stolichnaya but never explains Pernod Ricard's connection to the company, brand, or product. Why would Pernod Ricard respond? What is its connection? 74.71.65.108 (talk) 06:54, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it, and the other errors in that paragraph. I wish people wouldn't just make stuff up. I wonder if Stoli really belongs in Category:Pernod Ricard brands, since Pernod Ricard doesn't own the brand, they just distribute it. GA-RT-22 (talk) 23:12, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
