Northern Irish[edit]

So Ruiari what is the exact WP:BLP violation?

Stephen was born in Northern Ireland and spent most of his trade union career in Northern Ireland before he moved down south an became a minister. Does that qualify him as a Northern Irish and Irish trade unionist, or do you insist that there is only one kind of descriptive term for people from Northern Ireland regardless? "Northern Irish" is a high contentious label. One that is rejected by the majority of the people that live in Northern Ireland in favour of Irish and/or British. Even the article about "Northern Irish people" was deleted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Northern Irish people. Referring to someone as being "Northern Irish" can also infer political allegence to Britain and is politically loaded. It should be avoided for the more neutral term "from Northern Irelan" [1] --Ruairí Óg's (talk) 11:18, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Its commonly used throughout Wikipedia. Ever seen the article People_from_Northern_Ireland? What does the first paragraph read? Argue against that. Also note the amount of people who identified as Northern Irish above Irish -really backs up the personal opinion you've given above. Mabuska ^(talk) 10:38, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
