Some of the references refer to individuals who had an experimental treatment and seemed to have benefitted. This is not clear from the article which should make it clear to reader that this treatment is not FDA-approved nor is it being studied in an FDA-approved trial. While it may have helped one individual, it cannot be applied to others until further rigorous studies have been done. --Abbaroodle (talk) 20:25, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think Abbaroodle is confused on the whole issue of FDA approval. The FDA approves drugs and medical devices sold in interstate commerce, but has no authority over the practice of medicine (which is controlled by the states). Hence, FDA approval is not sought nor is it considered for medical procedures. An example of a similar procedure to MSC culture expansion is IVF (5 day blastocyst procedure). This medical procedure (IVF) is not FDA approved, nor should it be, as it is a medical procedure that is credentialled through multiple fertility societies and the College of American Pathologists "CAP" program. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.42.238.245 (talk) 15:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
