Another article?[edit]

This is Stapleton International Airport - not Stapleton Neighborhood.

As a lover of airports, perhaps there should be a Stapleton Neighborhood article along with a Stapleton Airport file? As the newly added map seems to imply the Stapleton neighborhood feel where this page should highlight what happened at the Airport, IE which airlines on which concourses, the runway layout, for instance, and removing the 'Neighborhoods of Denver' category to the other page. This was the first airport I ever flew into commercially so I feel sort of an obligation.

Different airports[edit]

No, it is odd, in a sense that you are landing at DEN airport, but at different locations. You leave from Denver Stapleton on Monday for your weeklong vacation to Honolulu. You return the next Monday from Honolulu and arrive at Denver International. Hence, you arrived back at a different airport than where you left from. In other words, you never made a true round trip. However, instead of being charged an open-jaw ticket (LAX-JFK-EWR-LAX), you simply paid for a standard roundtrip, DEN-HON-DEN ticket. Get it? --Mrskippy 19:42, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How far away from each other are Stapleton and the new airport (DIA)? I mean IIRC, DIA is in the middle of nowhere. People parked their cars at Stapleton and flew into DIA and then eventually had to find a way to get back to Stapleton to pick up their cars from the abandoned airport? Seems crazy, did they have to pay for parking? Shuttles between airports? Sorry, I am just really curious and would love to hear from someone who knows.

Accidents[edit]

I changed the label on this section. It formerly was labeled as "Incidents." Aviation nomenclature requires that the "accident" label be applied, anytime any passenger or crew suffers serious injury, or there is significant damage to the aircraft. EditorASC (talk) 02:17, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Attached photo[edit]

The attached photo is good, but it doesn't include the terminal area. This is a photo of the north end of the runways, looking NW, with I-70 bisecting the photo. The terminal would be below and to the left; outside the image.

Closing date[edit]

The February 25, 1995, date for Stapleton′s last flight appeared in this article and has propagated around the Web, but it must be wrong. Denver International Airport opened on February 28, 1995, so if Stapleton closed on February 25, Denver must have been without a major airport for three days, which is not credible. Various sources on the Web give the date of the last flight from Stapleton as February 27, 1995 – adding that a convoy of vehicles then drove overnight from Stapleton to Denver International for the latter′s opening the following morning – so February 27 makes the most sense for the last Stapleton flight and appears to have valid sources online. Stapleton Airport Land Mass[edit]

I tried editing something a couple of months ago,but it is worth another try.When Stapleton Airport was fully built out,it covered an area of 4,700 acres(19sq.km.) of land by 1985.This should be added to the article.Sources:Airfields-Freeman website(defunct airfields). Also,where it says DIA Still,should be still(small s),I changed for grammatical reasons only on 9/13, what it should be ,was reverted back.
