30 million worldwide?[edit]

Quite wild imagination to say this sold 30 million. Certifications are only about 3 million, including 1 million in USA. I'd say 10 million as absolute maximum worldwide sales. Or are the certifications for some countries just not known, most notably for German markets? And, List of best-selling albums in Brazil don't have any Bee Gees albums. The album had sold 4 million copies in the US alone before 1979 was half over and some say 6 million overall.

The BBC states over 30 million copies in 2003 ([1]), the billboard magazines says 20 million by 1997 (source in the article) and the rock'n'roll hall of fame states 20 million in its entry for the group ([2]). Certified sales are unfortunately often significantly lower than the actual (presumed) global sales, since there is no global certification standard. Some national markets have certified figures, some have not and in some cases certified figures may not really comprise all records sold and systemic certification may have started at different times. This problem is particularly bad with musical works from the early 89s and earlier with a strong international appeal. In doubt articles need to list 2 figures, the global sales figure or reliably published estimate and the "certain" certified figure.--Kmhkmh (talk) 23:16, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bass playing confusion[edit]

In the liner notes, Maurice and Harold Cowart are both created with playing bass, but there is no clarification regarding who played bass on what tracks. One book suggested that Maurice didn't contribute any bass to the album at all while other sources, namely Gibb Songs, indicates no such suggestions. Maurice himself said that he was doing bass work and without his knowledge, Barry and Robin brought in Harold to play Maurice's parts because neither of them could rely on him.

If somebody can find a source to clarify which tracks had Maurice or Harold on bass, that would be much appreciated.61.69.217.3 (talk) 07:17, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
