Deleted article[edit]

Hey there, I am on mobile now but I keep having my page deleted for no apparent reason. The Spider-Man 2 game which is coming out in 2023 should have its own page instead of redirecting to the game that came before it. Please stop changing it without a valid reason. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1012:b1b3:daa3:c0d8:4d47:2a6b:ff95 (talk) 17:56, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. This page already has a draft article at Draft:Spider-Man 2 (2023 video game), though I doubt you need to be told that seeing as you copied and pasted the page in it's entirety. The game is 2 years away, and all we have is a trailer and a few scraps to go off. If you still believe that the draft should be published here, then I suggest you submit the draft for review via the button at the top of the draft page. Spider-Man 2 (2023 video game)Marvel's Spider-Man 2 – Per WP:NATURAL and also the fact that "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" seems to be the actual official name. Virtually every primary source calls it "Marvel's Spider-Man 2." HadesTTW (he/him • talk) 21:01, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, since Wikipedia:COMMONNAME applies, I did a quick perusal of secondary sources via Google News:
[1] IGN refers to it as "Marvel's Spider-Man 2".
[2] GameInformer uses "Marvel's Spider-Man 2."
[3][4] Yahoo and CNN is just "Spider-Man 2".
[5][6][7][8] Uses just "Spider-Man 2" in the title, but in the body uses "Marvel's Spider-Man 2."
[9][10][11] Again, more usage of "Marvel's Spider-Man 2."
So even if there's an argument to be made that most people or sources refer it to "Spider-Man 2," it's clear that a lot of sources have picked up using Marvel's right before it as a natural way to disambiguate it from Spider-Man 2. HadesTTW (he/him • talk) 21:08, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd probably oppose this. Just because a few sources call it "Marvel's Spider-Man 2", doesn't mean that would be the WP:COMMONNAME. the 2018 video game and it's DLC, Miles Morales, and even the series itself don't even have "Marvel's" included in the title. I also did a search and found out that Eurogamer, Metro, Neowin, The O'Colly, and Destructoid refer it to as simply "Spider-Man 2". But either way, I think we should stay consistent with the names of these Spider-Man articles. DaCrashy (talk) 23:17, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to add that the first was also discussed to be changed to a similar title but was not moved. DaCrashy (talk) 23:21, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to argue that the proposed title change makes complete sense, as I have evidence from both first party sources and third party sources. In fact, the other articles support this. Each listed article incorrectly titles themselves simply as Spider-Man or Spider-Man (subtitle), but in the text, it refers to both games and the DLC as either Marvel's Spider-Man or Marvel's Spider-Man (subtitle). Look at the first line of each article, and the title used on the infobox:

All of this shows that this site clearly already has been using the name, the title's of the articles are the outliers. More importantly, the games are officially referred to as "Marvel's Spider-Man" on both Sony's and Steam's storefront:

In other words, both first party and third party storefronts all refer to the series, the games, and the DLC as "Marvel's Spider-Man." In short, all this presented evidence should necessitate both the change of this article's title, but all five listed articles, as they are all improperly titled. 71.179.10.188 (talk) 22:29, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Still the names should stay consistent with all other Spider-Man articles. DaCrashy (talk) 02:11, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • The name of this article should be consistent with the articles for the first two games. Aside from that, I'm not sure at this time which title should be used. Jessintime (talk) 15:35, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. This seems to be WP:COMMONNAME. I'd suggest move both Spider-Man PS4 and the Miles game as well. OceanHok (talk) 11:01, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 would be an ambiguous title. Also it would be non-consistent with the previous entry in the series (and with the name of the series itself) Redjedi23 (talk) 18:32, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How about "Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023 video game")? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:842B:836C:7B01:15E1:7971:61BF:9B40 (talk) 00:53, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The game is called simply "Spider-Man 2". The Marvel's is something used by some sources but not others, and also wouldn't match the others in the series.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:53, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Spider-Man 2 should be categorized as action-adventure game instead of beat 'em up game.[edit]

Greetings. I want to point out about the genre accuracy of this Spider-Man 2 2023 game. I noticed that the game is categorized under beat 'em up games category. But judging to the gameplay, I think action-adventure game category is more accurate as a main genre. even it has some beat 'em up elements such as Spider-Man's battle style against the enemies NPC, it's not enough to justify it with such a categorized genre of this game. MrGamezBoy (talk) 17:24, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We go by what reliable sources consider it to be. And again, Category:2023 action-adventure games doesn't exist. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 18:36, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
