Relevance of staged shot on Master of Photography[edit]

Whoever tried to delete this, it is absolutely relevant because it is another example of Datta's unethical approach to documentary work. You cannot stage photos in reportage, and you certainly cannot take a picture of yourself and pretend it is someone else as Datta did in this instance. The fact that he tried to laugh it off in the video instead of apologising shows how disconnected Datta was from the required ethics for this kind of work.

To say dismiss it as "un-noteworthy" is wrong, because he was vying for a prize worth €150,000 and for all we know Datta might have gone on to win it had his trick not been discovered. Moreover, the introductory paragraph on Datta already mentions his participation in the programme.

Finally Petapixel is a very reliable source. However even if you doubt Petapixel, the video embedded in the reference link provided whows the entire exchange between Datta and the judges and thus renders it incontrovertible.
