misuse of |language= in cs1|2 citation templates[edit]

This template misuses |language=:

Parker, Trey (November 2017). South Park: The Complete Twentieth Season: "Member Berries" (DVD) (in Audio commentary). Paramount Home Entertainment.cite AV media: CS1 maint: unrecognized language (link)

I deleted that parameter because Audio commentary is not a language recognized by MediaWiki; see the list of supported codes / names. With this edit, Editor SanAnMan reverted with the edit summary Cite was fine. No it was not. This misuse causes this article to be listed in Category:CS1 maint: unrecognized language for fixing. If not me who fixed this misuse, someone else will eventually fix it. That being done, someone who believes (incorrectly as Editor SanAnMan does) that the cite was fine will revert that fix; wash, rinse, repeat.

Here is an alternate, perhaps better citation. It appears that Editor SanAnMan wants to cite the audio commentary that accompanies the "Member Berries" episode in season twenty. That being the case, cite the episode with the template that is expressly intended for citing episodes:

Parker, Trey (November 2017). "Member Berries". South Park: The Complete Twentieth Season (DVD: Audio commentary). Paramount Home Entertainment.

And a last thing: as a courtesy to our readers, consider using either of |minutes= or |time= to identify when in the audio commentary the commentator supports our article's text – don't make them hunt through the entire episode to locate that information.

@Trappist the monk:Then maybe next time you should just make the accurate correction of the citation rather than just removing content accompanied by an extremely vague edit summary. Either way, FTFY. - SanAnMan (talk) 15:17, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
