Edeköy massacre[edit]

In the first days of first balkan wars, Bulgarian troops marched through the area which was Turkish soil then. Bulgarian soldiers took coltrol of the town. Turkish army has already left the area. Just on the other side of river Evros, there was a Turkish village called Edeköy. Edeköy had a population around 1800 these days. It was a quite wealthy village. After the Bulgarian occupation, some Greek civilians, who used to work for wealthy Turkish landlords of Edeköy, took advantage of the situation and with the permission of Bulgarian officer Tanef (or Tanev) they attacked the village. 200 hundred armed men led by a bandit called Paskal passed across the river Evros and sieged the village. The guns of the villagers were taken before, so Turks did not have the chance to protect themselves. Between 31 October and 2 December of 1912, 1659 people of Edeköy were killed by these bandits fdom Soufli. only a dozen people could run away, of left behind assuming to be dead. Others who survived from this disaster were the young men of Edeköy who were in the army at that time. Greek bandits took some Turkish landlords to Soufli. They were tortured and killed there. Other Turkish men were taken into the mosque and all were burned down. Some men were tied together two by two and thrown to the river Evros, only one could survive, others drowned. Women of the village were put in two big houses. Most of them killed, some raped. A few could run away. Soufli's Greek bandits stole whatever they could find and they burned down the village. The bodies of the Turkish villagers were thrown into the wells of the village. The bandits were from Soufli, but not every Greek in Soufli was that cruel. Some people from Soufli helped Edeköy villagers and some Turks survived by their help. After this massacre, Edeköy was lifeless for some years. Later people who survived turned back and settled there again and started a new life. But in 1940, after a big flood, the village had to move away from Evros river. Today there is no more Edeköy near Evros river. But the village is 4 kilometers away, still facing Soufli.

I removed some things that are not showing impartiality...

1."but not every Greek in Soufli was that cruel" --> makes understand the reader is commonly people accept that all the greeks were cruel... Not historical fact

2."Today there is no Edeköy near Evros river. But the village is now named as Kadıdondurma and stands 4 kilometers away from Evros river, still facing Soufli." --> uses a literary figure which transmits the reader the feeling that the village in front of soufli stands still defiant against the enemy. the greeks. clearly this kind of language is not other thing but the war propaganda of one the sides.

3."still facing Soufli" specialy this phrase is creating a dramating enviroment that makes the reader feel mercy about the village of Edeköy.... Loses impartiality.

The complety paragraph I've removed uses bombastic language as have been said before. The link it's in bulgarian and it's not possible to check the article. Changed from "municipality" to "city"[edit]

I changed it from "municipality" to "city" because for the municipality (that is called also "municipality of Soufli") is existing an other article (only in greek for the moment) [1] this is the link... i hope it works... We shouldnt connect the municipality article with the city article. The municipality is concluding other cities that they dont have any relation with the history refered to this article.
