Sojitra is a surname in Dhari, Amreli, Gujarat[edit]

The Sojitra's are Leuva Patels originated from Sojitra village. They are now found all over in Gujarat. Some Sojitra's who have migrated to Amreli and Junagadh distict of Gujarat settled at Kathrota, Majevadi, Govindpur, Dhari village. Those from Kathrota and Majevadi village(12 km from JUNAGADH CITY) have changed their surname from Sojitra to PONKIA after the blessings of KHODIYAR mataji(Godess), who blessed the Sojitra after eating roasted green wheat loacally known as PNOK, so she told the leaders of these cast to convert their surname from Sojitra to PONKIA(pronounced pno-ki-ya) but written in english as PONKIA. These conversion occured atleast 25-27 generations ago from now.

Sojitra's Migration to Amreli[edit]
