Composer credits[edit]

At least four of the tracks on this recording are Akiyoshi originals, (previously recorded by her big band), but I haven't been able to find a direct reference source that identifies the composer for the other three tunes.

album cover - color scheme choice[edit]

User:Remurmur today added a line stating that in addition to the album's title, the cover color scheme of Sketches of Japan is an intentional reference to the "red/yellow theme" of Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain album cover. While this may be true, looking at the two album covers it's probably not obviously true / unambiguously clear to the average reader (to me anyway). Therefore a citation confirming the album cover artist's color choices / intent would be desirable. Otherwise, this statement would probably qualify as "original research" under wikipedia definitions and would need to be removed. The same argument could be made for the implied title reference as well (citation is needed) - although in the case of the title, it seems much more likely to me (and to "the average reader"?) that the choice of "Sketches of..." for a jazz album title in this case is more than coincidence and was likely made with full knowledge of the (intentional) similarity to the Miles Davis' album title.
