Untitled[edit]

This should be the disambiguation page as it is written as one word in English: Sisaket. I am removing this redirect and changing this page to a disambiguation page. There are about 4 article that will directly affected including this one, Si Sa Ket, Sisaket province, Si Sa Ket province (another redirect page). I will try to track down all the pages linking to these articles and correct the double redirects. It may take some time though, it is a confusing mess now.--William Thweatt Talk | Contribs 02:30, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For most other provinces the capital city is at the plain name, while a disambiguation page is linked with the {{otheruses1}} template. In the Dutch WP the plain name is the disambiguation, while on the Thai WP the plain name redirects to the province. For Thai usage it's clearly the province which is meant when someone uses the plain name, but in english it's more common to mean the city then. I have no clear preference whether the disambiguation should be at the plain name or at a separate article with a otheruses header. andy 20:14, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I really don't have a preference either, but something had to be done to standardize it across all articles. It was pretty haphazard before. For example, this page was a redirect to Si Sa Ket, which was about the town, with the result that if you typed "Sisaket" into the search box, your were taken to the town article without any mention of the province, which would leave users with no knowledge of Thailand missing important information. By the way, thanks for fixing the redirect at Si Sa Ket to the disambig page here. I meant to direct it here but must have gotten confused.--William Thweatt Talk | Contribs 20:46, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temple in Laos[edit]

Wat Si Saket is a Buddhist wat in Vientiane, Laos, but the article doesn't give the name in Lao script. None of the related articles say what the heck it means. I think Si Sa is one word meaning "head", and ket another meaning district. But saket can mean trash, left-overs, or leavings. (The Thai love puns, but translating them can be a _itch.) --Pawyilee (talk) 17:15, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
