Question[edit]

Does anyone know more about LeBons connection with Israel? Why was he there? Just travelling as a youth, or is he actually a jew? And where does Le Bon come from? Not quintessentially English sounding, sounds more French, any light? DW Celt 22:29, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No doubt he is from Huguenot origin... Now reading about Huguenots, they criticized catholisism and grew in number a lot in the 1500's in France and other European regions like the Netherlands, right after the Inquisition. So it won't be surprising and maybe himself is not aware of it. Height[edit]

He's actually tall. I think he's 6ft 2ins (1,88), about the same as John Taylor, possibly slightly shorter. The remaining members of Duran Duran are mostly average height (somewhat shorter). I've met SLB in person and trust me, he's tall. At 5'8" I'm above average on height for females and I had to look up to communicate with Simon. I'd estimate his height at 6'1" tall, maybe an inch shorter than John Taylor (the ex-geek extraordinaire of the band!) but still amongst the tallest of all the band members past or present. "Artistic talent" of a 6-year old?[edit]

'His mother encouraged his artistic talent when he was six years old by entering him in a screen test for a Persil washing powder TV advert; he won and starred as the little boy with the off-white shirt, but had no spoken lines.' (12/Feb/2015).

Appearing as a scruffy boy in an advert... 'artistic talent'? That really is pushing the boundaries of marketing hype to a pretty low depth!

"'artistic talent'? That really is pushing the boundaries of marketing hype to a pretty low depth!" Ummm... considering some of the dreck and obvious marketing ploys that pose as legit Wikipedia articles—it's a bit of an overreaction to call a child's appearance in a commercial "marketing hype". There isn't a huge leap of logic needed to see how Le Bon's mother might want to expose him to the camera if she thought he had talent, however small. And... I edited the detail which read "1979" as there is no reference to 1979 in the text. Simon Le Bon did several jobs before joining Duran Duran in 1980, but "1979" is not relevant to anything in the text at all.
