Dual Port Disc?[edit]

My Sim Tower CD runes on Mac and Winodws. If u put it in a mac it opens a Mac partition and runs the game, same in Windows [replace the word mac with Windows]. It works on both, but the cheats I know only work on windows, and the save game files arent compatible... 75.153.204.116 01:26, 5 February 2007 (UTC) [RealG187 not signed in][reply]

My CD is the same. Maybe it's worth mentioning? The cheats I know of also work on Mac though. T3h 08:40, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison table[edit]

I started work on a comparison table of the three main 'tower' games, from the Tower Series however, ive run out of motivation ti finish it, i think it needs a bit of organising and more features added, but on top of that, i cant decide where it would be worth posting it? under which game? originally i intended posting it on the Sim Tower page but then thought maybe itd be worth creating a new page to compare the 3 as the table could become quite big. Anyway if anyone feels like completing and adding this table, go ahead, if not, i might come back to it one day:

star system[edit]

could someone please state the population levels needed to attain each star level

from the help file "2=300, 3=1000+security office, 4=5000+hotel suite+recycling+medical+VIP, 5=15000+cathedral" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.210.230.34 (talk) 02:58, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To go from 1 to 2 stars, you need a population of 300.

To go from 2 to 3 stars, you need a population of 1,000 plus more than one Security Office. To go from 3 to 4 stars, you need a population of 5,000, plus more than one Hotel Suite placed, plus Recycling and Medical demands met, plus a favorable VIP rating. To go from 4 to 5 stars, you need a population of 10,000, plus a Metro station.

To go from 5 stars to Tower, you need a population of 15,000 plus a Cathedral.

September 11th, 2001 image controversy[edit]

I recall reading online shortly after 9/11 that the image on the box and all products was causing a controversy. The image does look very similar to the 9/11 attack (with fire and smoke pouring out the side of the tower). The game was released a few years before but was still for sale. A few months later I purchased a copy of the game online (so I'm somewhat sure it wasn't sitting in the back of a software store for a year or two before I purchased it). The first thing I noticed was that the smoke and fire was edited out on the box. Everything else was the same in the image. On the CD-ROM the image (which was printed on in a ghost type image) still contained the smoke and fire. Methinks they were able to get new boxes made up and had a few people switch them over in a warehouse somewhere or they just hadn't packaged them yet and got the new boxes in before the product was shipped.. just couldn't do anything about the CD-ROMs. Anyway, I looked everywhere online and couldn't find anything referencing this. I know it happened.. I remember seeing the old box a couple years before. Its worth mentioning. Cs302b 02:40, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Highest Population?[edit]

Shouldn't we include the highest known population achieved to date? So far the highest I've come across is the one by Drake which has a population of over 42000 and can be found on McLure's SimTower Stuff.

Suggested rename/move[edit]

I suggest renaming this article to SimTower: The Vertical Empire. Additional discussion is happening here. SharkD (talk) 19:49, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Tower for GBA[edit]

FYI- The development company also released The Tower for the GBA. See product page and Google translation. Don't know if that should be mentioned as well. (Guyinblack25 talk 16:12, 7 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Santa Claus[edit]

The article in its current state claims that the Santa Claus flyover "Although it does not have any impact on the tower, at the end of the fourth quarter every year in the game, Santa Claus and his reindeer fly across the tower." The cited article says "The manual says that something good is supposed to happen when he does this, but it doesn't say what that is." The fact is that you receive funds if your tower is tall enough to intersect that path of his sled. Thus, the phrase "it does not have any impact on the tower" is decidedly incorrect. I'm not sure I can justify a change without citing original research, so if anyone can find a reference that'd be excellent. -Artevelde (talk) 06:02, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Legacy and/or new subgenre?[edit]

From time to time, I see a videogame that seems to be inspired by this particular game/simulation software, and I would like to ask if you think it will be interesting to add a final section on this article listing games that take some elements from SimTower (and maybe as a pioneer in this particular "subgenre")

A few examples: Unholy Heights Corporation Inc. Theme Hotel Love Hotel — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmunJazz (talkcontribs) 20:32, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

MacWorld reference[edit]

I found this bit of reference material for SimTower in an old MacWorld archive: [1]. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 03:53, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
