Silvanus and Selvans[edit]

It looks to me that the 2 are different deities as Dorcey points out. The only common trait is the protection of field boundaries. The similarity of the names caused some confusion on both sides perhaps. In Ovid the Silvani are presented as dwellers of the woods who strive to achieve the heavenly realm. Selvans is a god that may best be related to Semo Sancus. Sometimes the inscriptions have Silvanus for Sancus or Tec Sans.Aldrasto11 (talk) 12:35, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
