Hello: I work in communications with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and would like to edit some outdated information on our page. Since I am in a conflict of interest situation, I am proposing my edits here, according to the Wikipedia rules. COI Request for Additional Content[edit]

Hello. I am an employee of Silicon Valley Community Foundation and therefore am in a COI situation. Our Wikipedia page currently is mostly history. I would like to request adding some information regarding what we do. Below are three of our current funds/partnerships along with a formatted news link about each. Since I have been instructed that a COI should not draft content, I’m wondering if a volunteer might have the time and interest to help with this? I am also happy to create a draft if recommended. Article improvement request[edit]

As an employee of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, I realize I am in a COI relationship, and, therefore, follow the appropriate guidelines regarding editing.

I would like to improve this article and am wondering if the following three items regarding layout and content is a good way to do so. I understand that ghostwriting is not ideal, and that Wikipedia says that COI content should be very carefully reviewed by volunteer editors. 1. I see in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout that the way the article is currently set up with many short sections may not properly follow Wikipedia layout criteria. Can it be improved by restructuring the history section?

2. The organization has updated the language regarding its mission and purpose. Is this language appropriate to add to the article in the lead or elsewhere?

The Foundation’s giving is focused on grants to local non-profit organizations that serve low-income households, immigrants, and communities of color. The SVCF Community Action Grants Program identifies and supports local organizations that help promote equitability and inclusion in Silicon Valley.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).

3. I’m wondering if a section can be added that provides content on some of the Foundations programs. A grantmaking and partnerships section has been drafted below.

Grantmaking and partnerships

LatinXCEL Fund In May of 2021, The Silicon Valley Community Foundation in partnership with the Castellano Family Foundation started the LatinXCEL Fund to provide grants to Latinx-led, and Latino-serving nonprofit organizations in Silicon Valley.^[1]

California Black Freedom Fund In 2020, SVCF joined 20 other funders in planning the five-year, $100 million California Black Freedom Fund. That same year, The Foundation launched its Community Catalyst Fund to fund organizations serving BIPOC and low-income communities. The SVCF Community Action Grants Program identifies and supports local organizations that help promote equitability and inclusion in Silicon Valley.^[1]

Community Advisory Council In October of 2020, Silicon Valley Community Foundation launched a Community Advisory Council that includes a panel of 22 Bay Area members representing local nonprofit organizations. The council’s focus is on reducing systemic disparities in dispersing grants to local non-profit organizations that serve low-income households, immigrants, and communities of color.^[2]
