Chavez?[edit]

Chavez is not a pitcher?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.29.66.93 (talkcontribs) 19:30, 15 November 2006.

U/16 Baseball[edit]

I played Under 16 baseball with someone who threw this without knowing what it was. He termed it a "breaking ball", because, in his words, "It just Frickin'....breaks...". I think it's quite a natural pitch for sidearmers to throw, and this guy was one. Thedangerouskitchen 23:16, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

News article[edit]

Here's a link to a new article on cnnsi about the gyro and this pitch http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/tom_verducci/03/27/matsuzaka.gyroball/index.html —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 137.242.1.15 (talkcontribs) 23:54, 27 March 2007.

Move[edit]

I’m ’bout to put this over at Shootball ’cause that’s its English name. It’s a Japanese pitch, but they gave it an English name; shuuto is just for short, and the romanization of the Japanese spelling of an English word, at that. —Wiki Wikardo 06:56, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That makes no sense. Nobody ever calls this pitch a "shootball" in English. All of the American announcers call it the "shuuto" and that is how it is written of in English articles as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.125.1.182 (talk) 05:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shootball is Sinker[edit]

It's a pitch that has movement to right hitter. Roger Clemens uses it all the time to induce foul ball. If you induces a downward spin, it becomes a true sinker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.211.225.54 (talk) 10:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
