Name[edit]

Named, I think, for Harry Sherman, founder of Sherman's pools. Both deserve an article I think but I cannot find a reliable source.Cutler (talk) 09:37, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was Wilfred Sherman, Cardiff-born bookmaker and pools company boss. But I can't find a source. Verbcatcher (talk) 19:56, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have found a citable source that confirms that the theatre was named after Harry Sherman, and have added this to the article. I agree that Harry Sherman and Sherman's Football Pools deserve articles. Dan O'Neill says that brothers Harry and Abe Sherman founded Sherman's Pools, and says that there were other brothers. Wilfred ‘Nossie’ Sherman, also a Cardiff bookmaker, may have been another brother. Harry Sherman is mentioned in Sidney Stanley#Football pools.
