History section[edit]

The history section in this needs some major work. There's a good deal of great information, but it reads more like genealogy and not a history of the mansion. In addition, references are needed for all the material. Empidonax (talk) 22:44, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to work on improving this page. It may take me a little while, but Shepherd Hall (Monument Place), its original owners (Moses Shepherd and Lydia Boggs Shepherd) and the history surrounding the mansion are very important to me. Any help or suggestions that you can give me would be greatly appreciated! How do you cite web pages as references?Jat1979 (talk) 17:06, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My suggestions would be as follows:

  • Remove all the dates after the names of everyone. It's good information, but it's not vital to the article. For important people like Moses Shepherd incorporate their dates of birth and death into the text.
  • The sections on individual owners should be incorporated into the main history text using subsections. Some of the information is repeated in the history and then under the individual owner sections.
  • In the individual owner sections there's a good deal of genealogical information including lists of siblings and children. This is unnecessary especially when the article is about the house rather than the families.
  • I would, however, keep the section on the Stone Church Cemetery since it is connected with the property.
  • A physical description of the house would be nice to include. If you have access to the National Register of Historic Places nomination form, it will include such a description.
  • To cite a website, simply insert this and fill in the blanks. <ref>{{cite web|title=|url=|work=|publisher=|accessdate=}}</ref>.

I hope this is helpful. You've done some really good work and I'll remove the tag since you now know what needs to be worked on. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Empidonax (talk) 04:25, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

image rotated[edit]

{{helpme}} The image of the portrait of Lydia Boggs Shepherd Cruger somehow was rotated. Can somebody please rotate it back to its correct position? Jat1979 (talk) 17:29, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how - the original image is the same way to. Ask at WP:HD. Mdann52 (talk) 18:42, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I think I've figured out how to, it may take a minute. --j⚛e deckertalk 18:48, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was wrong, I haven't figured it out. Sorry about that. --j⚛e deckertalk 18:53, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying. Jat1979 (talk) 19:58, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be an admin job. Mdann52 (talk) 20:08, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Got it. Didn't need an admin, just a download, rotate, upload. There's a fancier trick for images at Commons. --j⚛e deckertalk 22:09, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
