Sidhe[edit]

Noting the similarity of Sheeda's pronunciation to that of the Irish sidhe seems a bit silly. Since sidhe is pronounced 'shee', the word Sheeda is about as similar to it as it is to the third person singular pronoun for a female. Or the word duh, which is used to express ones dismissal of the obviousness of something. Perhaps this is Grant Morrison's intent! Heck, Sheeda is a sorta rhyme of PETA. Clearly the name is intended to represent Grant Morrison's own vegetarian lifestyle! Sheeda is similar to Shaido. Is Morrison ripping off Robert Jordan?! If you change Sheeda around, it's Dashee! Kinda like the daisho that honorable samurai wore. Yes. Yes, I think it was Morrison's intent to tell us that the Sheeda like using two swords, one longer than the other. Hm. Sheeda ... wheat-a ... weetabix ... bic lighters ... lightning ... thunder ... thunder god ... Susano O No Mikoto ... the Kyoto protocol ... pollution ... smoke ... cigarettes. Yes. Yes, I see it now. The demonic race of the Sheeda are Grant Morrison's anti-smoking message. I gotta add this into the article ASAP!

Anyway. That it sounds like sidhe seems like a coincidence to me. More likely, the name Sheeda is a reference to the shedim demons of Judaic lore. 24.62.27.66 22:25, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, having read the latest Frankeinstein, apparently they ARE connected to the Irish legends of the sidhe. OH WELL! I still wouldn't say it makes a lot of sense, but hey, it's Grant Morrison. It doesn't need to. 24.62.27.66 04:14, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The similarity between Sheeda and Sidhe isn't a coincidence, it was mentioned and explained by Morrison himself in an interview that was quoted with the respective link.User:PauloIapetus

Meta-commentary[edit]

This whole section looks like original research to me. I'm adding a citation tag, and we should consider removing it altogether. It doesn't really seem to hold together, and it has the awful "some fans believe," which always means "the person who edited this believes." I admit to using it myself many times. I noticed that the page says that the sheeda were created by Morrison & J.H. Williams III but that they were first seen in JLA Classified. Doesn't that mean that Ed MCGuiness was part of the team that created the race?

Further to this the opening statement "They first appear in Seven Soldiers #0 (April 2005), and were created by Grant Morrison and J.H. Williams III. Their first DC Universe appearance was in Morrison's introductory run on the JLA: Classified series in 2004." Seem contradictory.
