Futurama Reference[edit]

Shouldn't we mention that the Futurama reference came well before the creation of the film? Not saying that the movie got the idea from Futurama, but I feel it would be fair to explain that futurama was not referencing this film in the TV show. I would be bold but really don't know how to phrase it properly. Jypsy27 (talk) 15:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I simply added the years to the Futurama and Here Comes the Grump episodes (1999 and 1969 respectively - though having never seen Here Comes the Grump, I can't confirm whether or in what capacity the term appears in it; just trusting the info as presented on the pages). User:Britmax reverted this, claiming it was "Not needed." I disagree - noting that these references pre-date the film is rather important, as it establishes that they are not direct references to it and that it is not the first instance of the name "sharktopus." (Mind, since they're also not simply appearances of the film's monster in other media, I had also renamed the section title from "In other media" to "Similar monsters in other media" - it's possible that that was what Britmax was objecting to, perhaps thinking it was a new section? I don't know.) If the dating info truly is "not needed," then probably the *whole section* is also not needed and should be removed. anaphysik (talk) 12:26, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dates are fair enough, I'm just allergic to overly verbose headers. Britmax (talk) 12:38, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Prizes[edit]

Surely this film must have won prizes? Prizes may need to have been invented for it, but prizes are necessary. Prize for the best underwater singing shark? For the least convincing rain of marine vertebrate entrails since Douglas Adams? Aidan Karley (talk) 15:53, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An underwater singing shark? That's a new one..New headline for The Onion: "Golden Raspberry Award announces new category devoted exclusively to 'Sharktopus-like movies'". Jimw338 (talk) 17:39, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone change the poster?[edit]

Because the dvd cover was awful and give the updated or latest one, which latter also allowed (like Sims 4 poster). Ituuwya51 (talk) 11:58, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
